Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Getting Mew and Mewtwo
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet players can unlock both Mew and Mewtwo through an aptly titled event called Get Mew and Mewtwo.
As announced during the August Pokémon Presents event, players can add Mew to their games immediately by navigating to the Mystery Gift menu and entering the password “GETY0URMEW” before September 18.
As for his big bad brother, Mewtwo will be available in a Tera Raid Battle from September 1 to 17. Though The Pokémon Company didn’t offer many specifics, it did tease that battling the Mewtwo with Mew will unlock “something special”.
A number of build-up Tera Raid Battle events will be available ahead of Mewtwo’s reveal, with Wave 1 taking place from August 9 to 17, and Wave 2 taking place from August 18 to 31.
This wasn’t the only update for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet shared during the event, as The Pokémon Company also revealed the September release date for their first major expansion: The Teal Mask.
Two Pokémon animated series were also announced alongside the addition of Scarlet and Violet Pokémon to Pokémon Go, two Pokémon games coming to Nintendo Switch Online, and more. Read about every announcement in IGN’s Everything Announced article.
