The Detroit Pistons have inked general manager Troy Weaver to a contract extension as first revealed by Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Weaver has been in the franchise for the past two years, overseeing the said role and leading the franchise’s ongoing rebuild project.

Despite the Pistons’ league-worst record at 8-26, Weaver has been credited for building a solid young foundation for the Pistons, gaining Cade Cunningham, Jaden Ivey, and Jalen Duren among others. Moreover, he surrounded this young nucleus with trustworthy veterans of Bojan Bogdanovic and Alec Burks.

The extension can only grant Weaver an extended length of power to continue preparing Detroit for a bright future.
