Isaiah Stewart has agreed on a four-year, $64 million contract extension with the Detroit Pistons, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

As pointed out by Wojnarowski, Stewart now becomes the first player out of the 2020 Draft Class who received a non-max rookie extension. The transaction is also the first rookie extension of the franchise since team owner Tom Gores bought them in 2011.

Stewart, 22, serves as one of the important pieces of Detroit’s promising young core. He improved in his third year last 2022-23, averaging 11.3 points, 8.1 boards, 1.7 blocks and 1.4 assists in 50 games of play.

The extension officially locks Stewart to the Pistons’ imposing and deep frontcourt slate that already boasts Marvin Bagley III, James Wiseman, and Jalen Duren.

Stewart was chosen by the Pistons for the 16th pick out of Washington.
