Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has lauded Alejandro Garnacho and the positive strides taken by the youngster in his breakthrough season at Old Trafford.

Scholes likened Garnacho to one of his most illustrious teammates – Cristiano Ronaldo.

In an interview with Webby & O’Neill, the ex-United midfielder opined that Garnacho can do anything and he needs to only work on building strength to become unstoppable.

Scholes said, “I’m really excited about him. Whenever I see him I’m impressed. He’s a superstar in the making.”

“He’s so brave in possession. He’s very much the way Cristiano was as a young player. He doesn’t mind being kicked, he gets up, he goes for more, he scores goals.”

“He’s got a lot of growing to do and once he gets a manly body and physical strength, I don’t think there’s much stopping him.”

Garnacho, who is currently recovering from an injury, is enjoying a stellar campaign and has earned the trust of Erik ten Hag.

In his first full season as a United player, Garnacho has plundered four goals and as many assists, most of which have come off the bench when the winger has come on as an impact substitute.

While it may be hard to argue with Scholes’s assessment, ex-United striker Louis Saha is of the opinion that Garnacho despite his brilliance cannot be compared to Ronaldo.

As per the Frenchman, “I can see in his eyes that he wants to perform, however, you can’t compare anybody with Cristiano Ronaldo. There’s no comparison at all. ”

“Cristiano is a lion and no disrespect to Garnacho, but if he can be half as good as Cristiano, then that’s absolutely fine.”

Irrespective of which side of the fence one lies, what can be collectively agreed is that Garnacho has a bright future ahead of him and hopefully, he realizes his great potential at the Theatre of Dreams.
