Odell Beckham Jr. sets timeline for when he will pick a team to sign

Odell Beckham Jr. has set his timeline on when he expects to sign with a team for the 2022 season.

Fans waiting to see where star receiver Odell Beckham Jr. will sign have had to be extremely patient. That patience will be tested even further since the star receiver does not intend to sign with a team until after Thanksgiving, and the process could be even more drawn out than expected.

That timeline information comes according to a report from Adam Schefter, despite the fact that offers have already started to come in. Schefter also reported that Beckham plans on making in-person visits to some of the facilities of teams courting him, which will likely draw out the process even further.

Why has Odell Beckham Jr. gone unsigned for so long?

Odell Beckham Jr. tore his ACL in last year’s Super Bowl and has been recovering since. Though early projections were that he would be ready to play by early November, his recovery has taken just a bit longer than expected.

It’s unclear why Beckham didn’t field offers until he was ostensibly recovered from the injury or if offers simply hadn’t been procured until that point.

 What teams are most likely to sign Odell Beckham Jr.?

Schefter noted in his article that a reunion with the Los Angeles Rams is unlikely since they have struggled mightily this season. He also suggested the Packers are probably out of the running since their season looks to be all but over after Thursday night’s loss to the Titans which makes sense.

That leaves a few likely landing spots.

The Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs were rumored early in the season, but Kansas City trading for Kadarius Toney and adding him to a fairly densely-packed receiving staff may reduce the need for another receiver.

The Baltimore Ravens, Philadelphia Eagles, and New York Giants could all probably make use of Beckham, too.

The Dallas Cowboys have been extremely transparent in their pursuit of Beckham, and the feeling appears to be mutual. Team owner Jerry Jones has talked publicly about him and several players have mentioned him as well. Going back to statements Jones made leading up to the trade deadline, it looks as though they may view Beckham as an addition similar to that of Deion Sanders in the late 90s.

Beckham spent the best years of his career with the Giants, so playing for another NFC East foe — whether that’s the Cowboys or Eagles — would certainly sting a bit for fans of the Big Blue. Recent Twitter activity from Beckham has fans thinking a Giants reunion is heating up, though.

For Beckham, he has stated that he wants somewhere he can get a multi-year contract. So it may not be all about what teams can offer him this year, but also what they can provide him in the future.
