‘Not Kylian Saint-Germain’: Kylian Mbappe not happy, Man United on high alert – The Athletic – Man United News And Transfer News

PSG may be in a bit of a pickle.

The Parisians were knocked out of the Champions League last month after losing home and away to Bayern Munich, and confronted with severe criticism from across the board after the result.

Successive defeats in the league have done little to ease the pressure on manager Christophe Galtier, while Lionel Messi’s contract situation continues to play out like a badly produced Telenovela.

They say an evil chance seldom comes alone, and that may be the case here, as PSG find themselves mired in another fog of controversy, according to new reporting by The Athletic.

It all started on Wednesday when the 10-time-French-Champions released a video that included certain excerpts from an interview with star man Kylian Mbappe, in which he talks about his team-mates and the fans.

The final cut of the interview was sent to every Paris Saint-Germain season ticket holder in an effort to persuade them into a renewal.

It was also linked to the ticketing section of the club’s website.

This did not sit well with Mbappe.

The French superstar, peeved at what followed, took to social media on Thursday, making it amply clear to his staggering 102 million followers that he did not appreciate being ‘used’ by the club.

Mbappe wrote:

“I have just taken part in the viewing of the club’s renewal campaign for the 23/24 season.

“At no time was I informed of the content of the interview with my interviewer.

“It looked like a basic interview at a club marketing day. I don’t agree with this video posted.

“That’s why I fight for individual image rights. PSG is a big club and a big family, but it is certainly not Kylian Saint-Germain.”

Despite this PR debacle, Mbappe is expected to stay at the Parc des Princes and the storm ought to pass.

The Parisians beat OGC Nice 2-0 today to stretch their lead at the top of the ligue 1 standings to 9 points over second placed RC Lens, and that will help relax the tensions in the French Capital for the time being.

Manchester United retain a long standing interest in Mbappe, and if the right owners come in, they could target the Frenchman to truly kick-start a new revolution at Old Trafford.

Stranger things have happened.
