New PS5 Update Prepares Console For DualSense Edge Controller
A new system update for PlayStation 5 is now available to download, and with it comes added support for Sony’s upcoming DualSense Edge controller, which is set to launch later this month.
While the fresh PS5 update mostly offers players the usual vagueness we’ve come to anticipate – system stability and performance improvements – the patch notes mention “‘the DualSense Edge wireless controller is now supported.”
It stands to reason that PS5 owners looking to use the DualSense Edge at launch will need to have this update installed on their system to do so.
For those uninitiated, the DualSense Edge is Sony’s answer to the Xbox Elite Controller, providing a premium option for players looking to customize their gamepads to either improve their play or comfort.
Some standout features of the $200 controller include fully remappable buttons, the ability to customize your sticks with multiple different caps, attachable paddles on the back for additional input options, and more.
The DualSense Edge launches on January 26 and will be compatible with all PS5s – at least provided you’ve downloaded that new system update.
