Germany made history by securing their first-ever world championship title with a victorious 83-77 triumph over Serbia in the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup Final.

Germany big man Moritz Wagner commended his head coach, Gordon Herbert, for his adept handling of the highly varied roster of national team players.

“He’s a very focused man,” Wagner said after hearing about Herbert’s emotional reaction after the win over Serbia. “Without him, we probably wouldn’t be here.

“He has great attention to detail and great intensity behind every word. And it helps us a lot with a group of great characters. It gets loud sometimes and he keeps us calm, focused.”
