Sacramento Kings head coach Mike Brown is placed on the league’s health and safety protocols, according to Sacramento Bee’s Jason Anderson. Per Marc J. Spears of Andscape, Brown has mild symptoms but is eager to make a return as soon as possible.

With him being in the protocols, he is listed as out on the Kings’ Tuesday game against the Denver Nuggets.

Associate coach Jordi Fernandez is set to take over for the meantime with Brown being unavailable. Fernandez made history earlier this month as he became the first Spanish coach to lead an NBA team, as the Kings went on to beat the Toronto Raptors with Brown being ejected due to two technicals.

Under Brown, Sacramento has been enjoying an increasing success unlike the previous years, as they are looking to erase the league-worst 16-year postseason drought. Currently, the club is holding a 17-14 record – good enough so far for the sixth spot in the Western Conference.

Besides the absence of Brown, the Kings also have a daunting challenge to face with Domantas Sabonis out with his avulsion fracture in right thumb. As such, they may seem going all in to hold that momentum as the season progresses with Alex Len and Richaun Holmes assigned for more frontcourt exposure.
