Manchester United join race to sign Evie Rabjohn from Aston Villa – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United have made an official approach to sign Aston Villa teen Evie Rabjohn.

According to the Daily Mail, United have joined Chelsea in the race to sign the 17-year-old defender.

Rabjohn made her debut for England U19’s last October and has been called up again for this month’s fixtures.

She made her debut for Villa in September as she replaced Rachel Daly in Villa’s 2-0 victory over Leicester and made her first WSL start at the end of last month in Villa’s 5-0 victory over the Foxes.

United are keen to sign young domestic talent as the club builds and apparently informed Villa of their intent to sign Rabjohn in the last 24 hours.

She turns 18 on April 28th and has apparently not yet decided on her future.

Despite Chelsea being known admirers of the defender, United are the first club to make their move official.

As per FA regulations, they now have to wait seven days before they are able to discuss personal terms with the player’s representatives.

If United are successful, Villa would not receive any compensation as the rules are different in the women’s game to what they are in the men’s.

Players in the women’s game can move before signing a first professional contract at 18 without their club receiving a fee.

In the men’s game, there is a system of compensation that has been established by FIFA.

WSL clubs have lobbied for a change in the rules, and Chelsea boss Emma Hayes has been at the forefront of these campaigns despite her club benefiting from the current rules.
