Manchester United appoint Jason Wilcox as technical director with immediate effect – Man United News And Transfer News

In a huge boost to Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s plans for the executive restructuring at Old Trafford, Manchester United have agreed a compensation figure for Jason Wilcox.

The Southampton Director of Football recently resigned from his position to force through a United move which seems to have sped up the process.

He is joining the club as Technical Director and will reportedly be working under Dan Ashworth, the talks for whom are ongoing.

Fabrizio Romano reported that he will be a key part of the INEOS project and the club have now confirmed the same.

In a statement posted on the club website, Wilcox’s job remit has been made clear, who’s joining with “immediate effect”.

The statement said: “He will work with all technical areas of the football department to achieve the highest standards of performance.”

Wilcox comes as a highly-regarded capture as he has his prints all over the academy success of Manchester City.

He was the former Academy Director in the blue half when they overhauled their youth operations which is now paying dividends not just for them, but clubs they have sold those players to.

Wilcox had been chased by INEOS for a while but Southampton were reported as a struggle to negotiate with.

The Saints were not willing to give up their man so easily who had only joined them last January and was overseeing a possible instant promotion back to the Premier League.

However, Wilcox’s sensational step of resigning likely sped things up and fans will be eager to see him step into the new role.

Darren Fletcher, the incumbent for the role, is likely to settle into a new job while talks for Dan Ashworth could also quicken now that Wilcox’s appointment is sorted.
