Magic Johnson campaigns Jacque Vaughn for Coach of the Year, long-term deal with Nets
The great Magic Johnson himself is already calling the Brooklyn Nets to consider extending their ties with Jacque Vaughn.
Posting a tweet on Wednesday, the Los Angeles Lakers icon praised Vaughn, claiming that the mentor sits atop of his choices for this season’s NBA Coach of the Year trophy. He also urged team governor Joe Tsai and GM Sean Marks to hand Vaughn a long-term deal.
As the Nets were marred by controversy to start the season upon Kyrie Irving’s antisemitism stances and Steve Nash’s embattled departure, it was Vaughn who boldly stood up and gave the club its needed survival.
From being at the depths of the East, Brooklyn suddenly surged under his influence, now boasting the second-best record in their Conference with a 27-13 record.
Both Tsai and Marks may seem to assess first their ongoing blooming, but no one should deny that Vaughn has indeed made magical wonders for the club to suddenly emerge.
