Looks Like We’re Getting a Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Demo Soon

New evidence suggests Square Enix will release a demo for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth next week.

The PlayStation Game Size X/Twitter account discovered mention of a demo for the hotly anticipated PlayStation 5 exclusive on Sony’s servers, as well as a potential reward for playing it: the Kupo Charm: Survival Set.

PlayStation Game Size also suggested some sort of save transfer will be at play here. Whether that means progress carries over if you buy the full game remains to be seen. Square Enix has form when it comes to releasing demos of upcoming Final Fantasy games, of course, so this one looks like a safe bet.

And when might the demo come out? Sony will broadcast a Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth State of Play next week, on February 6. It looks like the demo will launch alongside that.

Meanwhile, PlayStation Game Size claims Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth weighs in at a hefty 145.250GB, so be prepared for a significant install when the time comes.

Rebirth is part two of a planned trilogy remaking Square Enix’s influential PS1 game Final Fantasy 7. Picking up after the events of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Rebirth follows Cloud and friends as they leave Midgar and venture off into the wider world. Locations such as the Mythril Mine and Kalm are confirmed to be in Rebirth, while party members Vincent and Cait Sith make their debut.

In our first hands-on preview of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, we said: “Story-wise, Rebirth again feels very familiar, and yet also different. This is due in part to the tremendous difference in scale and presentation. Here, like with Remake, areas that were previously sparse or bare are expanded out into lush zones to explore. But there are also little changes that are mostly inconsequential, but they still play out in different ways than fans of the original FF7 are used to.”
