Leeds & Aston Villa open talks to sign West Ham starlet

A pair of Premier League rivals have set their sights firmly on the signature of West Ham United starlet Sonny Perkins, according to reports.

The clubs in question? Leeds United and Aston Villa.

As per transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, amongst others, both the Whites and Villans ‘want to sign’ the highly-regarded 18-year-old.

Not only that, but the respective boards at Elland Road and Villa Park have gone as far as to open negotiations in a bid to strike a deal for the attacking midfielder ahead of next season.

This comes with Perkins’ contract at the London Stadium due to expire come the end of the month.

Interest in the English youth international’s signature beginning to ramp up should come as no real surprise. Perkins enjoyed an impressive campaign last time out, on his way to 14 goals between the Premier League 2 and U18 Premier League seasons.

Roca eyed

News of Leeds’ interest in bringing in Perkins comes fresh on the back of word coming to the fore earlier on Thursday that Jesse Marsch’s side have also set their sights on considerably more experienced reinforcements in the middle of the park.

According to Phil Hay of The Athletic, the Peacocks have identified out-of-favour Bayern Munich star Marc Roca as a potential addition to Jesse Marsch’s engine room ranks ahead of next season.

This of course comes with Leeds’ lack of midfield depth having been exposed in a major way across a difficult season which almost cost the club their top-flight status last time out.
