Latest Israel-Hamas war news amid Gaza invasion as death tolls rise: Live updates

Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Saturday again pushed for a “humanitarian pause” to allow more aid in and more people out of Gaza as civilian casualties mount. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu earlier appeared to reject a U.S. call for such pauses unless Hamas frees all of its hostages. Dozens of people were killed and wounded in a strike on the Maghazi refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip, Palestinian authorities said Saturday. The Washington Post could not independently verify the reports and the exact number of deaths is unknown. Meanwhile, passage out of Gaza through the Rafah border crossing was stopped Saturday. A border official and a diplomat told The Post that “no foreign passport holders” would pass into Egypt through the only exit not controlled by Israel — a move that appeared connected to Palestinian demands for more injured Gazans to be allowed into Egypt to receive hospital care there.
