The Los Angeles Lakers are planning to exercise their team option on Jarred Vanderbilt for the 2023-24 season, per The Athletic’s Jovan Buha.

Jarred Vanderbilt has a $4.7 million team option for next season, one the Lakers plan on exercising. He’s hopeful he can put down roots in Los Angeles as part of what he deems a “high-caliber organization.”

Valued at $4.69 million in amount, this salary by Vanderbilt is truly a team-friendly one for the Lakers as they look to manage their cap space and roster flexibility moving forward.

Acquired by the Lakers last trade deadline in a muti-team swap, Vanderbilt emerged as L.A.’s primary defensive ace with that length and versatiliy. Now at 24 years of age, the wingman still has more room to improve especially at the offensive end.

In 26 regular season games played for the Lakers this year, Vanderbilt averaged 7.2 points, 6.7 boards,1.6 assists and 1.2 steals. He also shot an efficient 52.9 percent shooting out of 5.4 field goal attempts per game.
