Lakers HC Darvin Ham calls out teams that passed on him
Darvin Ham, who was appointed as head coach of the Lakers las summer, recently shared his perspective on the teams that passed on him during their head coaching searches.
Prior to joining the Lakers, Ham was in discussions with ten teams, but they ultimately chose to hire other coaches. On the “#thisleague UNCUT” podcast, Ham candidly expressed his feelings about the situation, stating, “Yeah, they f—– up royally,” referring to the teams that had interviewed him but did not hire him.
Despite the disappointments, Ham made the most of his opportunity with the Lakers in his debut season as a head coach. He guided the team to an impressive run, reaching the Western Conference Finals. However, their journey came to an end when they were swept by the eventual champions, the Denver Nuggets.
As Ham continues to lead the Lakers, he remains focused on the team’s future success and is determined to prove his worth as a head coach. The experience of being overlooked by other teams has only fueled his motivation to guide the Lakers to even greater heights in the seasons to come.
