Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana casually remarked that he was “just doing his job” after his heroic last-gasp penalty save vs. FC Copenhagen.

With United a goal up courtesy of Harry Maguire, FC Copenhagen were pushing for an equalizer and were given the golden opportunity to do so after being awarded an incredibly late penalty.

However, Onana came up huge and dived in the right direction to keep the ball out of the back of the net.

Seemingly aware of the magnitude of the goalkeeper’s intervention, United players immediately bombarded Onana to thank him and congratulate him for the save.

After the game, Onana spoke to TNT Sports (via The Express) and expressed his delight at the save after enduring such a difficult start to life at United.

The Cameroonian said, “I just had to do my job, you know. I had to do it for us to win, to win against a very tough opponent, we had a great game.”

“Great goal from the big man Harry and I’m very happy, we have to continue like that.”

“Of course [there’s resilience]. We are Manchester United, we’re a very big club with big players.” Onana added, “So it’s just a matter of time, now we have to continue like this and we’ll get through this.”

Onana took to social media and dedicated the win to departed club legend Sir Bobby Charlton.

News of course broke on Saturday that Sir Bobby had passed away at the age of 86.

The 27-year-old wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “For all Mancunians, for us, for Sir Bobby Charlton. We are UNITED.”

Hopefully, Onana’s incredible moment against FC Copenhagen proves to be the catalyst that gets the shot-stopper going after an incredibly difficult start to life at Old Trafford.
