Prior to the tip-off of their Game 3 showdown against the Boston Celtics on Friday, Joel Embiid has officially accepted his Kia Most Valuable Player trophy in front of the sold-out Wells Fargo Center crowd.

Led by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, the pregame program finally handed that well deserved flowers for Embiid, as he clinched that MVP award he’s been coveting for years.

“I just want to thank God, first and foremost, because I wouldn’t have been here without him. Obviously, my teammates have been a big part of it,” said Embiid in his MVP acceptance speech.

As he also gave his appreciation to his family, Embiid bursted in tears as his son, Arthur, ran and embraced him in midcourt.

Averaging 33.1 points, 10.2 boards and 4.2 assists in 54.8 percent shooting, Embiid became the fifth Sixer in franchise history to bag the MVP honors.
