Retired college basketball coach Jay Wright, known for leading Villanova to two NCAA championships, may become a surprise contender for the Lakers’ head coaching position amid uncertainty surrounding Dan Hurley’s decision.
According to NBA insider Marc Stein, there’s speculation that Wright could emerge as a “stealth candidate” if Hurley opts not to accept the offer.
Hurley, the current UConn head coach, is deliberating the Lakers’ substantial and long-term coaching proposal following a persuasive presentation from the franchise’s leadership.
