Last summer Isaiah Hartenstein left the Clippers as a free agent and signed a two-year, $16 million deal with the Knicks.

The 24-year-old German center says that he was open to taking a pay cut to stay in Los Angeles, but the offer he received from the team was too low.

Via Tomer Azarly of Clutch Points:

“Yeah, I mean, they gave the only thing they really could’ve offered me to John Wall. I was — I can’t take that big of a pay-cut. I think I was actually gonna come back, but I can’t take that big of a pay cut. So they picked John Wall over me and I got to live with that.”

This season Hartenstein is averaging 4.9 points and 6.6 rebounds in 19.5 minutes per game.
