Inside YoungArts’ annual New York gala at the Met

The Met Gala’s junior precursor held its annual do at the museum’s Temple of Dendur on Monday night.

New York’s social set joined artists at the Young Arts gala, where Broadway star and artist Daniel J. Watts emceed.

Honorary chair Agnes Gund hosted, along with co-chairs Gillian Hearst, Sarah Arison and Sandra Tamer.

The evening kicked off with a cocktail hour in the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s lobby before guests gathered in the temple for dinner and performances by Watts and others.

Notable attendees included artists Bill T. Jones, Mickalene Thomas, Kenny Scharf, Lee Quinones, Tamara Warren, Ashley Longshore, Daniel Arsham, Amy Cappellazzo, Joanne Rosen and former “Sex and the City” star and ballet great Mikhail Baryshnikov.

Speaking of “Sex and the City,” Nicole Ari Parker, whose “And Just Like That…” character is inspired by real New York socialite Crystal McCrary McGuire, was on the scene and told us they just finishing wrapping Season 2 of the HBO Max series.

Parker was seated at a table with “Real Housewives of Orange County” star Braunwyn Windham Burke’s model ex-girlfriend, Victoria Brito.

Arison hit the stage to introduce new YoungArts president Clive Chang, who promised to “continue the critical work of listening to artists and their needs day in and day out.”

“Our goal is to be there, not just from the beginning, but to be there for life,” he said.

The evening raised nearly $1 million to support artists around the country.
