Scoot Henderson won’t suit up on Sunday for the Portland Trail Blazers against the San Antonio Spurs for the continuation of the marquee 2023 NBA Summer League – foregoing an anticipated matchup with Victor Wembanyama (per Bleacher Report’s Chris Haynes).

Per Haynes, Henderson will rest his right shoulder after injuring it last Friday against the Houston Rockets.

Henderson didn’t return in the third frame after sustaining the injury, but he finished with 15 points, six assists, five rebounds, and a steal in 21 minutes of losing effort.

Wembanyama had an underwhelming showing in his Summer League debut for the Spurs against the No. 2 pick Brandon Miller and the Charlotte Hornets. Despite struggling offensively with nine points (2-13 shooting), the top overall pick still made an impact on the club’s 76-68 win through his defensive stops of five major blocks.

Both Wembanyama and Henderson have already met on the hardwood in back-to-back exhibition games between Metropolitans 92 and G League Ignite in Las Vegas last October.
