Zion Williamson drew plenty of trade murmurs earlier this offseason, and the New Orleans Pelicans may reportedly consider cutting their ties with him at reasonable circumstances.

There is a chance that the Pelicans could make Williamson available in the market for the “right situation and the right package” according to Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report.

Williamson was notably subjected to speculations most especially in the Pelicans’ failed attempt to acquire No. 3 pick Scoot Henderson. As such, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN revealed that apparently, there were no teams offered by the Pelicans to obtain the star forward.

The former Top 1 pick was the darling of the league upon his entrance back in 2019-20, but injury and weight issues continued to ravage his chances to attain his limitless potential. Since his rookie campaign, Williamson only managed to log 114 total games. Last season, despite posting an All-Star number of 26 points in a robust 60.8 percent efficiency, he was just limited to 29 games of play after a troubling hamstring injury.

Indeed, Williamson is a generational talent with that unique combination of size and athleticism, but teams will be considerably wary of his injury history and poor status of play in the last four years despite that sheer desire to acquire him.

Should certain clubs try to obtain Williamson, the risks are already served at the table. For now, with the sky high price tag they attached to the All-Star, the Pels remain optimistic about their vision with Williamson moving forward.
