GTA 6’s Announced Platforms for 2025 Release Date Don’t Include PC

Grand Theft Auto 6 is currently planned for release in 2025 on Xbox Series X and S, and PlayStation 5. But for now, there’s absolutely no word on a PC release.

In a press release sent around today, Rockstar PR confirmed the game was “coming to PlayStation® 5 computer entertainment systems and Xbox Series X|S games and entertainment systems in 2025,” but included no mention of PC. IGN has reached out to Rockstar for comment.

IGN’s Twenty Questions – Guess the game!

The question of whether or not GTA 6 would make it to PC at launch has been in discussion for a long time now. Fans of Rockstar games have noted the studio’s historical reluctance to release other past games on PC day and date with console, as well as its fraught relationship with the modding community over the years. Still, some thought that a game as big as GTA 6 could be a turning point for the studio’s PC gaming attitudes, only to have those hopes dashed today with the news.

That said, none of this means that GTA 6 will never make it to PC, since big Rockstar titles tend to get over there eventually. But to the question of how long PC gamers will have to wait for what could end up being one of the biggest games of the current decade, Rockstar is keeping the answers quiet for now.

The very first trailer for GTA 6 just dropped today, despite having originally been planned for tomorrow morning. Its official unveiling took place after the trailer unexpectedly leaked on social media, with Rockstar acknowledging the leak and posting the official version not long after. We’ve already catalogued a number of reactions to the trailer from across the games industry, and more keep pouring in.
