Gronk reveals his ‘bored’ Tweet got multiple teams to inquire about availability, doesn’t entirely shut comeback down

Retired NFL tight end Rob Gronkowski says that two teams reached out to him after he tweeted “I’m kinda bored” on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, the NFL world saw Rob Gronkowski tweet out that he was “kinda bored.” Fans of NFL teams instantly started replying to the message, imploring the retired tight end to sign with their team. In actuality, this was a tweet that foreshadowed his announcement the following day, where he would be joining FanDuel.

Gronkowski made an appearance on “Up and Adams,” telling host Kay Adams that two teams actually reached out to him after he sent out the tweet. For those wondering which teams contacted Gronkowski, he wouldn’t disclose their identities.

“Yes, two teams reached out since the tweet,” said Gronkowski. “It was unbelievable. I don’t say who, but yes there were two teams. It was pretty nuts to me that everyone saw the tweet and it shows just how far social media can go and how quick it can travel.”

Gronkowski wasn’t done just there. When asked if there was a chance he would play again, he said “I’m not playing this year, I can’t tell you what I’m going to do next year or the year after.” To further fan the flames, Gronkowski said “there could be a slight chance” he returns in the future.

The former NFL tight end said that his agent and friends called him to ask whether he was trying to make a return. He specifically told his friends that he wasn’t, and that he was actually signing with FanDuel.

You can watch Gronkowski’s announcement in the tweet below, in which he says “I’m kinda bored” repeatedly in it.

Gronkowski last played in the NFL in 2021 when he was a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He tried to help lead the team to back-to-back Super Bowl victories, but that didn’t happen, as they were eliminated in the NFC Divisional Round by the Los Angeles Rams.

That year, Gronkowski caught 55-of-89 targets for 802 yards and six touchdowns.

For those wondering if Gronkowski was seriously planning a comeback to the NFL, the answer is no. Well, for this season, anyway.
