In a significant development, it has been reported that the reigning NBA MVP, Joel Embiid, has chosen to represent Team USA in international competition, specifically at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Embiid, a Cameroonian center, was faced with a choice between playing for France, his adopted home, or the United States, where he has acquired citizenship over recent years.

Gregg Popovich, the head coach of the San Antonio Spurs and former head coach of Team USA, shared his thoughts on this news. He expressed his enthusiasm for Embiid’s decision.

“The stronger the team, the better,” Popovich said, per Tom Orsborn. “International competition is tough, and having a player of Joel’s caliber on our side is a tremendous asset. That’s great news for us, and we welcome him with open arms.”

Embiid’s addition to Team USA adds another layer of talent to an already formidable roster, increasing the team’s chances of success in 2024 Paris Olympics.
