Giants’ Kayvon Thibodeaux ‘starving’ for another playoff opportunity

The New York Giants are riding a three-game win streak and they’ll enter Sunday with an opportunity that no one would have believed possible just a month ago: A chance to regain control of their own playoff fate.

Of course, the Giants will need to dispose of the New Orleans Saints on the road and then have several other dominoes fall their way. It’s improbable but certainly not impossible.

Even if nothing outside of the Caesars Superdome goes their way, the Giants can still propel themselves forward with a win, leap-frogging the Saints in the NFC Playoff race.

Although the team is taking things a game at a time, they recognize that each week is meaningful. Players are aware that a return to the playoffs is within reach and for linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux, he’s salivating at the thought of another postseason opportunity.

“I’m starving. I’ll tell you that,” he told reporters on Thursday.

During the offseason, Thibodeaux altered his preparation with an eye on late-season football. He wanted to make sure that when the games counted most, he’d be healthy and energized. That time is now at hand.

“I feel like things are paying off in the sense of how I feel health-wise, weight, size, things like that, strength. At the end of the season, things are feeling pretty good so yeah, I’m excited to finish this back half,” he said. “This is what I thought I was going to be. I knew we were going to be in a fight late in the season so we’re here and we’ve just got to keep climbing.”

Their next hurdle comes on Sunday afternoon in Lousianna and if the Giants and Thibodeaux can clear it, things are going to get very, very interesting.
