Giants great Eli Manning preparing Drake Maye for 2024 NFL draft

The New York Giants may have no shot at drafting North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye in April’s NFL draft but that is not preventing them from keeping a close eye on the future NFL star.

Former Giant great and holder of all pertinent franchise quarterback records Eli Manning has been involved in Maye’s pre-draft experience.

“I’ve been working with Eli throughout the process, getting on Zooms and talking football with him,” Maye told the New York Post’s Mark Cannizzaro.

“I’m working out in Mobile, Alabama, and his backup quarterback in college was Dave Morris, and he’s training me for the draft. Pretty small world. And, I was at the Manning Camp this summer, so I got to see Eli and Peyton.”

Maye is in Las Vegas this week — as are the Mannings — and participated in an LIV Golf event where he played alongside legendary golfer Phil Mickelson and Tennessee Titans quarterback Will Levis.

Maye is expected to be selected as high as second overall in this year’s draft. The Giants hold the sixth pick and would have to put together a lucrative package to trade up to get him.

That’s unlikely to happen, though, as the team seems to be content with giving Daniel Jones one last chance to prove his worthiness as an NFL starter.
