Giants great Eli Manning dismisses criticism of nephew Arch Manning
Arch Manning, the latest generation of the Manning quarterback legacy, is beginning his college career at Texas this summer.
The nephew of Hall of Famer, Peyton, and two-time Super Bowl MVP, Eli, and grandson of Archie, is drawing criticism after a rough outing in the Longhorns’ spring game (5-of-13 for 30 yards).
Uncle Eli isn’t too worried, though. He knows it’s all part of the journey.
“For me, I don’t remember many of my spring games,” the New York Giants legend said, via Sports Illustrated. “I don’t remember many of my preseason games. Spring games, you can’t look too much into it.
“I know, for him, it’s about getting in there. Getting into practices, getting in the weight room, learning the playbook. He was still a senior in high school when he went through that spring game. He’s got a lot to learn, but every rep is important, every practice is important and he’ll just continue to get better and more comfortable.”
Arch is the son of the eldest Manning brother, Cooper, and starred at the same high school as his father and uncles, New Orleans’ Isidore Newman.
The hotly-pursued 18-year-old chose Texas over a score of other top programs including LSU, Georgia, Clemson, and Alabama.
