Giants granted permission to interview Tony Dews for RB coach vacancy

The Tennessee Titans have granted the New York Giants permission to interview tight ends coach Tony Dews for their vacant running back coach position.

The news was first reported by long-time Titans beat writer Paul Kuharsky.

Although Dews coached the tight ends in 2023, he spent the previous five seasons serving as the Titans’ running backs coach.

Prior to his time in Tennessee, the 50-year-old Dews spent two decades coaching at the college level. He worked with defensive and offensive lines, tight ends, wide receivers, linebackers, and special teams units with his most notable stint coming with Michigan from 2008-2010.

As Titans running backs coach, Dews helped develop Derrick Henry into one of the top backs in the game. Tennessee was also routinely among the NFL’s best in rushing during that span.

Dews is the second Titans assistant to interview with the Giants, joining defensive coordinator Shane Bowen, who interviewed for the same role.

In addition to Dews, the Giants also previously interviewed New Orleans Saints running backs coach Joel Thomas for the vacant role.
