Forza Motorsport Is Now Available for Pre-Load With a Huge File Size

We are two weeks away from Forza Motorsport, and pre-loading began earlier this week for most versions. Fair warning: you’ll want to make some room on your PC or Xbox, as Turn 10 Studios’ next entry in the racing sim series has quite a hefty file size.

Noted in a recent blog post, Turn 10 Studios detailed that Forza Motorsport is now available to pre-load and revealed the list of in-game Achievements. But the most interesting part is the big file sizes that come if you want to install Forza Motorsport.

File sizes vary depending on which console or PC version you are installing. For example, the smallest file size is found on the Series S version, where you have to sacrifice 100GB of free space to install Forza Motorsport. The Steam version’s installed file size is 118GB, but as Turn 10 points out in its own post, the download size is 108GB. The Microsoft Store version is 1GB more at 119GB, and the biggest file size out of all four versions belongs to the Xbox Series X with a file size of 133GB.

It is important to note that only three of the four versions of Forza Motorsport are available to pre-load, as Turn 10 says Steam users will have to wait closer to release before they can pre-install the game.

The file sizes are massive, but something that is becoming more common in this generation of console gaming. The PC download sizes are a bit more interesting to me, though, as Turn 10 mentioned in a Forza Motorsport PC spec requirements post published nearly a month ago that you should use an NvME SSD to install the game, suggesting that you should free up 130GB of SSD on your rigs to install it.

Forza Motorsport arrives on Oct. 10 for PC and Xbox Series X/S, or Oct. 5 if you bought the Premium Edition and Premium Add-Ons Bundle. For more, check out our exclusive interview with the developers on how the next entry became a “racing platform for the future,” as well as our hands-on preview.
