Dalvin Cook IG story has Dolphins fans in a frenzy

Dalvin Cook IG story has Dolphins fans in a frenzy

Dalvin Cook is now in free agency but, if his latest Instagram Story is a message to Miami Dolphins fans, that won’t be the case for long.

Though it had been expected for some time, it became a mere formality on Thursday that the Minnesota Vikings are releasing longtime running back Dalvin Cook. With a small decline in performance combined with a hefty cap hit on an extension he played just two years on, the Vikings made the call to move on.

With the productivity of Cook over his six seasons in the NFL, though, there were always going to be teams lining up to sign him. And one of the first that reported as having interest in the running back was the Miami Dolphins.

And now Dolphins fans are wondering if Dalvin Cook to Miami is taking shape quickly thanks to social media.

Not long after the news broke regarding his release from the Vikings, Cook posted an Instagram Story showing the running back celebrating in Hard Rock Stadium, home of the Dolphins.

NFL Rumors: Dalvin Cook posts IG Story in Dolphins stadium as he hits free agency

Just to be fair, it could be a coincidence that the photo that Dalvin Cook shared happen to be from when the Vikings visited the Dolphins this past season. It could be that with the running back wanting to show that he was simply celebrating, as he is shown doing in the picture, that he’s now free from Minnesota and a free agent.

Of course, in the age of always reading between the lines, the IG story clearly means that the running back is going to sign with the Dolphins.

Miami has an electric running back room already with Raheem Mostert, Jeff Wilson Jr., and 2023 rookie Devon Achane. The two veterans, however, have struggled to stay healthy in their respective careers and, with head coach Mike McDaniel seemingly putting a stronger emphasis on the run game coming into this season, that could necessitate another body in the mix.

Cook is on the top end of the spectrum in that regard, a back coming off of four straight 1,100-yard seasons and having never averaged under 4.4 yards per carry in any single year. But if the money is right and the Dolphins are indeed thinking like this, then all of the dominoes could be aligning.

Now we’ll just have to see if Cook was sending a message to Dolphins fans or just celebrating the release on Instagram.
