Daboll confirms he will call the offensive plays this season

New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll confirmed the worst-kept secret in East Rutherford during his media session on Tuesday: He will be calling the offensive plays this season.

Daboll has been not-so-quietly hinting that he was taking over the play calling throughout the offseason and in training camp. Offensive coordinator Mike Kafka will be stationed up in the booth during games, as he was during the preseason.

Meanwhile, the entire 53-man roster was out on the practice field and working, including recently-signed cornerback Adoree’ Jackson.

In addition, inside linebacker Micah McFadden was on the field for the first time since being catered off with a groin injury in the Giants’ second preseason game three weeks ago in Houston.

The Giants’ offense was wearing red in preparation for Sunday’s game against Minnesota where they will sport their 100th Anniversary “Century Red” uniforms. The defense was in white and non-contact players were in blue for this week’s practices.

After recognizing the team’s history after the top 10 players in franchise history were announced earlier in the day, Daboll turned his focus to the Vikings.
