Crash Team Rumble Gets June Release Date and Closed Beta in April

Activision and Toys For Bob have announced that Crash Team Rumble will be released on June 20, and the closed beta for the game will be held from April 20-24.

The publisher and developer dropped the new trailer with the release date attached today, and said fans can pre-order Crash Team Rumble starting today so that they’ll get a chance to participate in the closed beta come mid-April.

During the beta, they’ll be playing as one of five characters: Crash, Coco, Tawna, Neo Cortex, and Dingodile. Each character will be paired with unique powers that can be used strategically with special moves and other abilities across three maps — all of which vary in size, layout, challenges, and Relic Stations that unlock even more powers to give teams an advantage over each other.

“We’re incredibly excited for fans to get an early hands-on with Crash Team Rumble during April’s Closed Beta,” Toys For Bob’s co-studio head Paul Yan said in a press release. “We truly value the community’s feedback and will use this input to fine-tune the game for an amazing player experience on launch day.”

Crash Team Rumble was announced at The Game Awards 2022 back in December, taking Crash fans by surprise as they were already waiting on the next installment in the series starring the orange marsupial. Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time came out two years earlier to critical acclaim over the fresh character designs and time travel plotline that continued from Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped but threw interdimensional changes into the mix.

Crash Team Rumble will be available on the PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One for $29.99 for the Standard Edition, with the Deluxe Edition selling for $39.99.

The Standard Edition will grant players access to post-launch seasonal content, limited-time modes, and the Season 1 Battle Pass, while the Deluxe Edition will bring 23 Battle Tiers unlocked during Season 1, the Season 2 Premium Battle Pass, and the Proto Pack, which has various cosmetics and other items. The game will support cross-platform play.
