Tyreek Hill is starting to sell Tua Tagovailoa’s as better than Patrick Mahomes

Tyreek Hill made it abundantly clear that new Miami Dolphins teammate Tua Tagovailoa throws a more accurate football than his former Kansas City Chiefs teammate Patrick Mahomes; he is not wrong either.

During an episode of his new podcast, It Needed To Be Said, Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill hit Kansas City Chiefs fans where it hurts by saying he prefers Tua Tagovailoa’s accuracy over Patrick Mahomes’.

Chiefs Kingdom may be falling to pieces over this comment, but sometimes, the truth hurts. To be totally transparent, Mahomes is and always will be the better overall passer, but keep in mind what Tagovailoa’s two greatest strengths are as a quarterback: Accuracy and how he conducts himself at the podium. Mahomes’ accuracy is only a tick off what Tagovailoa normally registers at.

Here is Hill saying what had to be said to podcast partner Julius Collins about this dirty little secret.

Tyreek Hill: Tua Tagovailoa is a more accurate passer than Patrick Mahomes

Hill’s comments were all about where he prefers to receive the football: Right in the breadbasket. Tagovailoa has plenty of faults as an NFL quarterback, but he throws a beautiful spiral and can usually put it exactly where he wants to. Mahomes crushes him in most other quarterbacking attributes, which is why he is a future hall of famer and Tagovailoa could become a failed starter.

To back up Hill’s claim, Tagovailoa was a more accurate passer than Mahomes last year (67.8 to 66.3 percent) and ever so slightly better in their NFL careers (66.2 to 66.1 percent). If we want to take that a step further, Tagovailoa blew Mahomes out of the water in college. He left Alabama averaging a 69.3-percent clip, while Mahomes was only a 63.5-percent passer at Texas Tech.

On the basis of strictly accuracy, Hill is 100 percent correct in saying Tagovailoa is better than Mahomes. Too bad football games are not won and lost based entirely on accuracy. It is based on grit, mental toughness and all sorts of other intangibles, not to mention arm talent, mobility and durability. Tagovailoa can become a fine quarterback, but Mahomes is an all-time passing talent.

Hill is the type of player who can make this statistic even more noticeable with his Dolphins play.

De Ligt provides insight into coaching methods of Manchester United’s Erik ten Hag

De Ligt provides insight into coaching methods of Manchester United’s Erik ten Hag

Juventus and Netherlands defender Matthijs de Ligt has shed some light on the coaching style of Manchester United’s new manager, Erik ten Hag.

Ten Hag took the United job back in May, leaving Dutch powerhouse Ajax whom he had enjoyed great success with both domestically and in Europe.

United, though, are a very different animal to Ajax. Ten Hag comes to Manchester United at a time of crisis. The club are in need of a serious rebuild after finishing 2021/22 with their lowest ever points total in a Premier League campaign.

United also appear to have a fractured dressing room, resulting in inside information being leaked to the press on a regular basis.

In addition, Ten Hag will have to deal with some unjustifiably big egos during his first season at the club.

Now, ahead of the 2022/23 season getting underway, De Ligt, who worked with Ten Hag during a very successful period for Ajax, has provided an insight into the type of coach the Dutchman is:

“He is someone who loves his job and he loves to work,” said centre-back De Ligt.

“He’s really into the details. This makes him a really good trainer. He has a lot of qualities (to succeed). We will have to see how he goes.”

De Ligt also spoke briefly on Frenkie de Jong, who has been linked with Manchester United recently but is currently on international duty with the Netherlands alongside De Ligt:

“He’s an amazing player and everybody knows how important he is for the team,” De Ligt said of De Jong.

“But he’s not said anything (about a transfer).”

Stephen Curry Drops 43 to Tie Finals Up At 2 Games Apiece

The Golden State Warriors have lived to fight another day after winning Game 4 to tie the Finals up at 2-2.

Stephen Curry finished Game 4 with 43 points and 10 rebounds, including 10 in the fourth quarter, to stamp the Warriors’ comeback from five points down. Curry has scored at least 30 in the last three games and has led the series in scoring with 137 total points. Curry is scoring 31.3 points per game in the Finals.

” A lot of our pride in our group,” Curry said after ESPN’s Lisa Salters asked him how he felt about the win. ” A lotta talk over the last 48 hours about how we can get back in the series and win in this building, finally figured out the fourth quarter, get some stops, and execute on the other, but it’s crazy because I still feel like we can play just a little bit better but to win on the road and get home-court advantage back — big for this group.”

Curry and Jayson Tatum (23 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists) dueled bucket for bucket in the first quarter, with both All-Stars scoring 12 in the first. However, the Celtics were able to leave the opening frame with a 28-27 advantage, with Boston pushing its lead to 54-49 by halftime.

Going into the second half of Game 4, the Warriors outscored the Celtics by 49 in the third quarter, while the Celtics outscored the Warriors by 40+ in the fourth. This time around, the third quarter trend for Golden State continued after the Warriors won the third by four points as Curry dropped 14 in the third and grabbed a 79-78 going into the final frame.

Golden State reversed its fourth-quarter fortunes and outscored the Celtics by a 28-19 margin.

The Boston Celtics led by as many as five in the final frame at one point but Behind Curry’s 10 points, Golden State was able to win as they outscored Boston 17-3 over the final 5:15 of the game, including a decisive 10-0 run that turned a four-point deficit into a 100-95 Golden State lead after Curry knocked down the last of his seven three-pointers.

“Been here six times, got a lot of experience in terms of staying composed and confident in what you can do, the endurance in being able to fight through the foot (injury) and just play my game for (40) minutes I’m out there,” Curry said. “I’m just thankful for everybody on our team cause they brought a lot of toughness tonight and physicality to get off to a better start which allowed us to stay in the game and then go win it at the end.”

With the Finals tied at 2-2 heading back to San Francisco, the Finals turn into a best-of-three series. If it comes down to it, Golden State holds home-court advantage for a do-or-die Game 7.

Raiders set sights on next contract extension after Hunter Renfrow

After signing receiver Hunter Renfrow to a contract extension, the Las Vegas Raiders already have one player who is a priority to re-sign.

This has been a week where wide receivers got paid. The Los Angeles Rams signed Super Bowl 56 MVP to a three-year, $80 million contract extension. Then on Friday, June 10, the Las Vegas Raiders agreed to terms with Hunter Renfrow on a two-year, $32 million deal.

With one of their top offensive players now locked under contract for an additional two years, who could be the next player to receive an extension?

Jeremy Fowler of ESPN points out that tight end Darren Waller is expected to be a priority, while also mentioning that the team has talked about a new deal with linebacker Denzel Perryman is entering the final year of his deal.

Who is next to receive contract extension from Raiders?

Since joining the Raiders in 2018, Waller has become one of the top players at his position. Back in 2019, Waller signed a four-year, $29.8 million contract with the Raiders. He has two more seasons remaining before he is a free agent.

This past season, Waller caught 55-of-93 targets for 665 yards and two touchdowns through 11 games. In his four years with the Raiders, the tight end recorded 258 receptions for 3,081 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Perryman was acquired by Las Vegas just ahead of the 2021 season, and he turned out to be a great addition, as he made the Pro Bowl for the first time in his career. He is entering the final season of his two-year, $6 million deal that he signed with the Carolina Panthers.

In his one season with Las Vegas, Perryman recorded 154 total tackles, three defended passes, two fumble recoveries and one fumble recovery through 15 games. In coverage, Perryman allowed 63 receptions for 511 yards and five touchdowns on 80 targets, per Pro Football Reference.

The Raiders are looking to build off of their 2021 season by locking in some of the stars on their team. When it comes to who is next to get an extension, keep an eye on Waller and Perryman.

Mac Jones earns rave reviews from teammates ahead of Year 2

New England Patriots wide receivers are praising quarterback Mac Jones’ arm strength in minicamp.

After Tom Brady left for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020, the New England Patriots went on a search to find his successor. In the spring of 2021, they used their first-round selection on Alabama’s Mac Jones, who was coming off of a National Championship win. Jones showed promise in his rookie season, but did not exactly light up the stat sheet.

During New England’s mandatory minicamp, Jones is earning some rave reviews from his teammates as he prepares to enter his second NFL season. Some of those players are wide receivers Jakobi Meyers and Nelson Agholor.

Mac Jones impresses teammates during Patriots minicamp

“He’s a year better,” said wide receiver Nelson Agholor, h/t Mark Daniels of the Providence Journal. “Working hard every day. He does a great job communicating, always working to be the best version of himself. I’m grateful to have him as a quarterback.”

One area that has earned rave reviews from teammates and media in attendance is Jones’ arm strength, which was an area of concern during his rookie campaign. Just take a look at one of Jones’ throws to receiver Tre Nixon in practice, courtesy of Khari Thompson of WEEI.

Jones won the starting quarterback job through training camp over veteran Cam Newton, and he made the most of his opportunity as a rookie. Through the full regular-season, Jones completed 67.6-percent of his passes for 3,801 yards, 22 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. He earned a Pro Bowl nomination and finished second in AP Offensive Rookie of the Year voting.

The Patriots went 10-7 to clinch a Wild Card berth, earning a first-round matchup in the playoffs against the rival Buffalo Bills. Buffalo blew out New England 47-17. Jones completed 24-of-38 pass attempts for 232 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.

Patriots fans have to love what they are hearing about Jones’ improvements through the offseason. But, they want to see it translate on the field during the regular-season. So, let’s come back to this once we are well into the regular season.

Draymond Green Taking Podcasting As ‘Serious As I Do Basketball’

Draymond Green has come under fire after his Game 3 performance left much to be desired. The 32-year-old forward posted just two points, four rebounds, three assists, and one block before fouling out in 35 minutes of action in Golden States’ 116-100 loss to the Boston Celtics.

A significant source of contention from NBA luminaries like Isiah Thomas and Kendrick Perkins is Green’s regular podcasting during the playoffs. The two NBA champions have questioned if Green’s apparent lack of focus and pondered could be attributed to his recording episodes of The Draymond Green Podcast so soon after playoff games are finished.

Even Coach Ime Udoka and the Celtics have found time to dissect Green’s podcast, using Green’s content to help them scout the Warriors, according to Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report.

So what’s Green’s response to all these inquiries?

“Y’all gone get this podcast like I told y’all the beginning of these playoffs,” Green declared. “This podcast ain’t going nowhere.”

Green’s media responsibilities have grown in the last few months. In January, he signed a unique deal with TNT that would allow him to be a contributor for their iconic NBA show, Inside the NBA. To clarify, Green doesn’t get tired of talking his talk on the court, on his podcast, or TV. Like he said, “y’all gon’ get this podcast.”

“It’s all business, you know? The way I view my podcast is that I’m operating a business. Like, you can’t get tired of operating your own business, or it fails. So, it’s something that I take as serious as I do basketball. And so, if I’m going to show up for the game, I show up for (the podcast), or it doesn’t work.”

Green also goes into detail about how he operates as a podcaster, reitterating that building his audience, gaining their trust as a player in media, and making sure his audience gets the most for investing their time into listening to him. The former Michigan State Spartan also said this is all something he feels he is obligated to do.

“Ultimately, it’s understanding what’s important to you. My podcast is important to me. I’ve worked to get that to where it is and to build that audience. And I think it’s very important for me in understanding and building that audience you have to continue to give to them, you know? They’re giving you their ear. They’re giving you their time, and so you have to continue to give what you can give to them. For me, that’s an obligation more so than a want. I want to do it, and I enjoy doing it. But at the end of the day, if you’ve built an audience, and they’ve given you their ear and they’ve given you their time, you appreciate that, and you make sure you give back to them what they’re giving to you.”

Game 4 is scheduled for Friday, and Boston leads the series with a 2-1 lead over Golden State. The series then shifts to San Francisco for Game 5.

Everton-bound Tarkowski pens farewell message to Burnley as exit confirmed

Long-time Burnley star James Tarkowski has taken to social media on Friday evening, to send a message of farewell to all associated with the club.

It had of course been common knowledge for some time now that stopper Tarkowski was primed to bring a close to the Clarets chapter of his career this summer.

This came with the 29-year-old having refused to put pen to paper on fresh terms at Turf Moor, ahead of the expiration of his current contract at the end of the month.

Burnley’s ensuing relegation from the Premier League only went about putting the final nail in the coffin of any sliver of hope remaining of keeping hold of Tarkowski.

The ex-Brentford star, though, is widely understood to be primed for a swift return to the top-flight of English football.

This comes with Tarkowski having reached a verbal agreement to take his talents to Goodison Park, to link up with Everton ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.

On the back of his departure from the club being made official earlier today, the highly-regarded defender, in turn, made use of the opportunity to send a farewell message to all associated with Burnley on Friday evening.

Taking to his official social media platforms, Tarkowski confirmed his gratitude at being afforded the chance to line out for such a ‘fantastic football club’, reiterating his hope that the Clarets will soon secure a Premier League return, before sending one final ‘thank you’ to his soon-to-be former employers:

‘An incredible 6 1/2 years comes to an end. I’ve loved every minute of playing for this fantastic football club. So grateful for the opportunity i was given to join and live my dream of playing in the Premier League. Going to miss all the brothers I’ve gained over the years, what a pleasure it has been. I hope to see this club back where it belongs in the near future. I’ll be back at Turf Moor cheering on the Clarets at every opportunity I get. Thanks for everything.’

Rivaldo urges Richarlison to consider Arsenal as postential destination

Brazilian footballing legend Rivaldo has urged current international and Everton forward Richarlison to reconsider his stance on a possible move to Arsenal this summer.

Per reports in Football365, the former Ballon d’Or winner (1999) views Arsenal as a “good option” for Richarlison, who has been tipped to push for a move away from Goodison Park this summer amid reports that he has informed boss Frank Lampard and the club brass of his intentions to seek greener pastures.

But for Rivaldo, the notion that Richarlison has turned his nose up at Arsenal – who are without Champions League football next season – is a stance that should be reconsidered.

“This could be a big summer for Richarlison and his compatriot Edu, who is the technical director at Arsenal, could be crucial in a potential move to the Gunners.”

“He looks set to leave Everton, with several big clubs interested, and Arsenal looks a good option for the forward. The Gunners have Edu as their director and, after working with Tite until 2019, the ex-Arsenal midfielder knows Richarlison very well from the Brazilian national team.”

“Joining a club that fights near the top of the Premier League could be important for Richarlison, after a tough season with Everton, in which he was crucial to saving the club from relegation. If he gets a big move, he will have a better chance of becoming a first choice forward for Brazil at the World Cup in Qatar.”

LIVERPOOL, ENGLAND – MAY 19: Richarlison of Everton celebrates after scoring goal during the Premier League match between Everton and Crystal Palace at Goodison Park on May 19, 2022 in Liverpool, United Kingdom. (Photo by Sebastian Frej/MB Media/Getty Images)

Richarlison, who scored 10-goals and added a further 5-assists while helping Everton successfully avoid a catastrophic drop down to the Championship, has initially parried away any possible move to Arsenal in favor of interest from the likes of Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, and Chelsea.

However, with the Gunners heavily in the hunt for a new leading number 9 at the Emirates Stadium under Mikel Arteta, first-choice minutes could be more readily attained in north London ahead of Paris or Madrid, which could aid in his push to feature prominently for Tite as Brazil look to secure their sixth World Cup win this coming winter in Qatar.

Arsenal have already been linked with a host of possible options to lead the line next season, in the vein of compatriot Gabriel Jesus, Victor Osimhen, former club starlet Serge Gnabry, and Sassuolo standout Gianluca Scamacca.

But with Richarlison already acclimatized to Premier League football while Arsenal constitute a considerable jump in profile, the Brazilian international could do well to heed the words of one of his country’s greatest ever players.
