Baldur’s Gate 3 Will Officially Leave Early Access and Be Released in 2023

Larian Studios has revealed that Baldur’s Gate 3 will officially leave early access and be released in 2023.

Larian shared the news during 2022’s D&D Direct in a dev diary that was focused on “the journey so far.” While it features some glimpses of the game, a tiefling cosplay, and a doctor who may or may not be a doctor, the big news from the video was the confirmation that Baldur’s Gate 3 will not make it out of early access in 2022 and will instead officially be released in 2023.

“By the Nine Hells, we’ve added a lot of great stuff already, and there’s more where that came from,” Larian said. “So, join us in early access on our journey to Baldur’s Gate 3, or come along in 2023 when the game releases.”

In February, Larian Studios’ head Swen Vincke said that 2022 would be the last full year of development, but he left some wriggle room as to if there was a chance it could make it before our calendars moved to 2023. Now, the chance of a 2022 release is no more.

The Early Access version of Baldur’s Gate 3 was released in October 2020 and featured a wealth of content. In our Baldur’s Gate 3 Early Access review, we said that it “already has exciting turn-based combat and some genuine storytelling greatness, but it might be worth waiting to enjoy the full thing with fresh eyes.”

For more, check out how Baldur’s Gate 3 was so huge that Larian chose to triple in size rather than shrink the game.

Halo Infinite Reveals 2022 Roadmap, Campaign Network Co-Op Targeting Late August

343 Industries has revealed its planned 2022 roadmap for Halo Infinite, and it includes a late August release window for the long-awaited campaign network co-op.

All the details were revealed by Halo Infinite’s head of creative Joseph Staten on Halo Waypoint, and while they are subject to change, they give a good picture as to what Halo Infinite fans can expect for the rest of the year. 343 also notes that the timeframe will “expand as we announce longer-term initiatives” and that the “roadmap is an evolving document.”

The roadmap begins by focusing on Season 2 “Lone Wolves”, which will run from May 3 to November 7. We already knew that Season 2 would launch with a new 100 tier Battle Pass, two new maps in Catalyst (Arena) and Breaker (BTB) and three new game modes in King of the Hill, Land Grab, and Last Spartan Standing.

What was made a bit clearer were some of the events and new features that will take arrive during the course of Lone Wolves. These include campaign network co-op in late August and the Forge Open Beta in September. These release windows are targets and may change, but it does put the progress of their development into clearer view.

As for Forge, 343 decided to forgo a “large scale formal flighting program and go right into open beta.” Once it is launched, it will not go away and will continue to evolve and grow over time.

Season 2 will also feature a new Fracture mode in Entrenched – with its first week starting on May 24 – and two narrative events in Interference from May 3 – May 16 and Alpha Pack from July 19 – August 1. These “multiplayer narrative events” will “place your Spartan in the center of an evolving Seasonal storyline.”

343 also gave a brief look at what fans can expect from the currently untitled Season 3 that will begin on November 8. It will bring with it a new Battle Pass, maps, modes, sandbox items, narrative events, fracture event, and campaign splitscreen co-op.

The lack of consistent content was also addressed, with 343 saying it is very aware it needs to do more, but it won’t do so at the cost of its team’s health.

“We know we need to deliver more content and more features more quickly,” 343 wrote. “Staying true to [a] priority zero [of team health] means that sometimes we need to slow down in order to stay healthy and move faster later. But we’re also aggressively looking at ways to accelerate.”

In closing, 343 shared it would be releasing “Drop Pods” of quality of life fixes as they are ready – most likely once per month – and that it will be doing a deep dive into more about Season 2 and the roadmap on April 27 at 1pm PT/4pm ET/9pm BST.

Four Syphon Filter Games Rated for PS5 and PS4 in Korea Ahead of All-New PlayStation Plus Launch

Sony’s new-look PlayStation Plus hasn’t yet launched, but PlayStation fans may be getting a beloved cult classic as part of the membership.

Spotted by Gematsu, the Game Rating and Administration Committee of Korea issued ratings to four Syphon Filter games for both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. The games include the original Syphon Filter, Syphon Filter 2, Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror, and Syphon Filter: Logan’s Shadow.

This will likely be great news for fans of the third-person shooter that’s become synonymous with the PlayStation brand. Unfortunately, not all the Syphon Filter games were rated by the committee. Syphon Filter 3 and Syphon Filter: The Omega Strain were not included, so it’s unknown if they will be listed in PlayStation Plus as well.

Sony recently revealed its update to PlayStation Plus which puts it closer to Xbox Game Pass. If the Syphon Filter series is indeed on this new PS Plus – as these ratings are no guarantee – it will likely be under the “Premium” tier which adds PS1, PS2, and PS3 (via streaming), and PSP games to the offerings. It looks like nostalgia is going to cost you.

The upside to this is that you’ll likely be able to download Syphon Filter games to your PS4/PS5. Siphon Filter was never released on the PS3 and thus doesn’t suffer the technical issues that prevent Sony from emulating PS3 games on the PS4/PS5.

Sony finally revealed the release dates for its all-new PlayStation Plus earlier today, April 22. The rollout begins with the Asian markets (sans Japan) on May 23, Japan on June 1, the Americas on June 13, and finally Europe on June 22. Existing PlayStation Plus subscribers will be grandfathered in at the “Essential” tier while those who want the top Premium tier will need to shell out $17.99/month.

Dying Light 2 Sold 5 Million Units In Its First Month, Dying Light 1 Has Crossed 20 Million Units Sold

Techland has announced that Dying Light 2 officially sold over 5 million units in its first month. Furthermore, it was also revealed that the original Dying Light has crossed 20 million units since it was released in 2016.

The news was shared in a press release and Techland also confirmed that the sales of Dying Light 2 are “significantly growing each month,” although it gave no other details as to how much. It did tease, however, that it will be debuting new content for Dying Light 2 alongside some “highly requested features” next week.

“The success of the Dying Light franchise is a great example of the unforgettable experiences we create for our players,” Techland’s CEO Paweł Marchewka said.

In our Dying Light 2 review, we said that it is “is an ambitious zombie action-adventure that’s packed with top-notch parkour, an awesome open world, and every painful bug in the book.”

If you are one of the 5 million who have already picked up Dying Light 2 or plan on doing so in the near future, be sure to check out our Dying Light 2 Wiki to help you survive this particular zombie apocalypse.

For more, check out lead game designer Tymon Smektała discussing how the first story expansion for Dying Light 2 won’t take place after the game’s ending and will instead take place “sideways to the main events.”

Switch Joy-Con Repair Center Was Reportedly ‘Constantly Overwhelmed’ and Made ‘Lots of’ Repair Mistakes

The dreaded Joy-Con drift issue has plagued Nintendo Switch since its release back in 2017. However, it looks like the situation’s effects go beyond the gamer. The repair center that handled Joy-Con fixes was reportedly constantly overwhelmed and was prone to making mistakes.

According to Kotaku, Joy-Con repairs were reportedly not handled by Nintendo themselves, but rather by another company called United Radio. A former supervisor says that the volume of Joy-Cons coming into the shop reached up to thousands every week and was a very stressful experience, which ultimately lead to high turnover and lots of repair mistakes.

“We ended up having to set up an entire new workspace just for Joy-Con repair,” the former supervisor told Kotaku.

While Nintendo sent brand new Joy-Cons as new replacements for customers at first from 2017 to 2018, eventually the employees at United Radio had to repair every set of Joy-Cons. Reportedly, the shop’s metrics required it to repair 90% of incoming Joy-Cons within four days, whether or not new workers were coming.

As a result of the high turnover rate, there was a lack of senior expertise at United Radio which caused frequent mistakes in Nintendo Switch repairs. In one instance, a Nintendo customer received a repaired Switch, but it had a completely different person’s account and save data.

The customer posted about their experience on Reddit. In response, United Radio implemented a new policy where a customer’s Switch would have to be factory wiped if the serial number couldn’t be verified during the repair process. The problem with this, however, was that some Switch consoles would have their data wiped without warning.

Nintendo has faced legal troubles surrounding Joy-Con drift. This Joy-Con situation also isn’t the only controversy Nintendo is going through right now either. Recently, a former employee has accused the company of firing them for unionization activities.

Destiny 2: Where Is Xur Today? Location and Exotic Items for April 22

The Agent of the Nine himself, Xûr, is now live in Destiny 2 for the weekend until next week’s reset. If you’re looking to get your some shiny new Exotic armor or weapons for your Guardian, look no further.

Each week, Xûr has a random assortment of Exotic armor, one for each Guardian class, as well as a random Exotic Weapon and an Exotic Engram available for purchase. In addition to his Exotic wares, he’s got a random collection of Legendary weapons and armor to deck out your Guardians.

We’ve rounded up all the info on Xûr for the week including where to find Xûr, which Exotic weapons and armor are available, as well as which Legendary weapons you should pick up, either for PvE or PvP.

Where Is Xûr Today?

Xûr’s location can be found at Winding Cove in the EDZ on April 22 through April 26. To reach him, travel to the landing point at Winding Cove. When you arrive, make for the rock cliffs at the far end of the cove and look for a cave winding up to a platform next to some Fallen. There you’ll find the freakish salesman we all adore.

Xûr can be found atop a rocky cliff in the Winding Cove in the EDZ.

What Is Xûr Selling Today?

Let’s dive right in!

Xûr’s Exotic Offerings this weekend.

Exotic Engram

Prometheus Lens – Exotic Trace Rifle

The Bombardiers – Exotic Hunter Leg Armor

  • 10 Mobility
  • 2 Resilience
  • 16 Recovery
  • 2 Discipline
  • 19 Intellect
  • 9 Strength
  • Total: 58

Armamentarium – Exotic Titan Gauntlets

  • 8 Mobility
  • 8 Resilience
  • 17 Recovery
  • 15 Discipline
  • 10 Intellect
  • 7 Strength
  • Total: 65

Getaway Artist – Exotic Warlock Gauntlets

  • 7 Mobility
  • 20 Resilience
  • 7 Recovery
  • 11 Discipline
  • 10 Intellect
  • 9 Strength
  • Total: 64

The highlight here is the Armamentarium roll, which has the highest has some great stats for Recovery and Discipline, and more importantly, low stats for the stuff Titans usually don’t care too much about. The Getaway Artist roll for Warlocks is also hard to complain about.

Exotic Weapons

Each week Xûr sells Hawkmoon & Dead Man’s Tale.

Hawkmoon – Exotic Hand Cannon

  • Paracausal Shot
  • Chambered Compensator
  • Alloy Magazine
  • Quickdraw
  • Textured Grip

Dead Man’s Tale – Exotic Scout Rifle

  • Cranial Spike
  • Fluted Barrel
  • Flared Magwell
  • Fourth Time’s The Charm
  • Fitted Stock

Hawkmoon and Dead Man’s Tale are both great weapons, but his rolls this week are pretty meh.

Legendary Weapons

Xûr’s Legendary Weapon offerings this weekend.

Seventh Seraph SI-2 – Sidearm

  • Corkscrew Rifling/Hammer-Forged Rifling
  • Accurized Rounds/Flared Magwell
  • Full Auto Trigger System
  • Zen Moment
  • Range Masterwork

Temptation’s Hook – Sword

  • Hungry Edge/Jagged Edge/Tempered Edge
  • Balanced Guard/Heavy Guard
  • Relentless Strikes
  • Vorpal Weapon
  • Impact Masterwork

Ikelos_SMG_V1.0.2 – Submachine Gun

  • Chambered Compensator/Polygonal Rifling
  • Tactical Mag/Alloy Magazine
  • Dynamic Sway Reduction
  • Tap The Trigger
  • Handling Masterwork

Deafening Whisper – Grenade Launcher

  • Confined Launch/Quick Launch
  • High-Velocity Rounds/Implosion Rounds
  • Underdog
  • Auto-Loading Holster
  • Blast Radius Masterwork

Frozen Orbit – Sniper Rifle

  • Extended Barrel/Fluted Barrel
  • Accurized Rounds/Tactical Mag
  • Genesis
  • Vorpal Weapon
  • Range Masterwork

Iota Draconis – Fusion Rifle

  • Arrowhead Brake/Hammer-Forged Rifling

  • Charge Time Masterwork

Wolftone Draw – Combat Bow

  • Tactical String/Natural String
  • Carbon Arrow Shaft/Fiberglass Arrow Shaft
  • Threat Detector
  • Harmony
  • Charge Time/Draw Time Masterwork

Honestly…Xur doesn’t have any rolls I’m in love with this week! The Wolftone Draw is a great bow and Iota Draconis is a pretty uncommon item for him to offer, but mostly the rolls this week don’t have anything amazing. Unless you need one of these for your collection, I’d say skip weapons this week. My buddy Ebontis says the SMG could be good, but I don’t believe him.

Warlock Legendary Armor

For Warlocks, Xûr is selling the Lightkin set which includes:

Xûr’s Legendary Armor for Warlocks this week.

Lightkin Gauntlets

  • 2 Mobility
  • 14 Resilience
  • 14 Recovery
  • 14 Discipline
  • 8 Intellect
  • 6 Strength
  • Total: 58

Lightkin Chest Armor

  • 20 Mobility
  • 2 Resilience
  • 6 Recovery
  • 11 Discipline
  • 14 Intellect
  • 2 Strength
  • Total: 55

Lightkin Helmet

  • 2 Mobility
  • 7 Resilience
  • 19 Recovery
  • 2 Discipline
  • 21 Intellect
  • 6 Strength
  • Total: 57

Lightkin Leg Armor

  • 6 Mobility
  • 20 Resilience
  • 6 Recovery
  • 11 Discipline
  • 2 Intellect
  • 17 Strength
  • Total: 62

Lightkin Bond

Boo, Xur. Booooo! Warlocks didn’t get much this week. The boots are the only sem-desirable item and even then they’re nothing to write home about.

Titan Legendary Armor

For Titans, Xûr is selling the Lightkin set which includes:

Xûr’s Legendary Armor for Titans this week.

Lightkin Gauntlets

  • 13 Mobility
  • 12 Resilience
  • 2 Recovery
  • 2 Discipline
  • 7 Intellect
  • 20 Strength
  • Total: 56

Lightkin Chest Armor

  • 19 Mobility
  • 6 Resilience
  • 2 Recovery
  • 2 Discipline
  • 14 Intellect
  • 12 Strength
  • Total: 55

Lightkin Helmet

  • 12 Mobility
  • 16 Resilience
  • 6 Recovery
  • 11 Discipline
  • 2 Intellect
  • 15 Strength
  • Total: 62

Lightkin Leg Armor

  • 6 Mobility
  • 24 Resilience
  • 2 Recovery
  • 12 Discipline
  • 17 Intellect
  • 2 Strength
  • Total: 63

Lightkin Mark

Similar to Warlocks, there isn’t a lot to love with Titans this week. The boots are definitely the most viable. The helmet is high stat (though I’d say in the wrong areas, unfortunately). Grab the boots if you need them and leave the rest to the wolves.

Hunter Legendary Armor

For Hunters, Xûr is selling the Lightkin set which includes:

Xûr’s Legendary Armor for Hunters this week.

Lightkin Gauntlets

  • 11 Mobility
  • 9 Resilience
  • 10 Recovery
  • 12 Discipline
  • 13 Intellect
  • 6 Strength
  • Total: 61

Lightkin Chest Armor

  • 11 Mobility
  • 2 Resilience
  • 18 Recovery
  • 6 Discipline
  • 7 Intellect
  • 14 Strength
  • Total: 58

Lightkin Helmet

  • 2 Mobility
  • 22 Resilience
  • 6 Recovery
  • 2 Discipline
  • 13 Intellect
  • 13 Strength
  • Total: 58

Lightkin Leg Armor

  • 14 Mobility
  • 7 Resilience
  • 9 Recovery
  • 7 Discipline
  • 12 Intellect
  • 7 Strength
  • Total: 56

Lightkin Cloak

Aaaaand, Hunters got totally skunked this week (womp womp). Stay far away from this low-stat armor, folks!

That’s a wrap on Xûr for this week, Guardians! Hope you’re all enjoying your adventures in the Witch Queen‘s throne world. How about that absolutely enormous TWAB yesterday? Any thoughts? Let me know in the comments.

All-New PlayStation Plus Targeted Release Dates Revealed

Sony has revealed the targeted release dates for its all-new version of PlayStation Plus, and those in the Americas are set to be able to start using the new service on June 13, 2022.

As detailed on PlayStation.Blog, Asia markets (excluding Japan) will be the first to get the new service as it is currently targeting May 23, 2022. Japan will be next on June 1, followed by the Americas on June 13, and then finally Europe on June 22.

Sony Interactive Entertainment president and CEO also revealed that PlayStation would be expanding its cloud streaming access to Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Malta, Poland, Republic of Cyprus, Romania, Slovakia, and Slovenia. These markets will also offer the Premium tier of PlayStation Plus at launch.

This all-new version of PlayStation Plus will bring together both PS Plus and PS Now into a three-tier subscription service and it will include up to 700 games and access to retro games at its highest Premium tier.

The first tier is PlayStation Plus Essential and it provides all the same benefits that the current iteration of PlayStation Plus offers at the same price of $9.99/month. PlayStation Plus Extra is the next step up at $14.99/month and that adds a catalog of up to 400 of “the most enjoyable PS4 and PS5 games.”

New PlayStation Plus: Confirmed Games So Far

The PlayStation Plus Premium tier is the highest option and will cost $17.99/month. In addition to all the previous benefits, it will also add up to 340 games from PS1, PS2, PS3 (via cloud streaming), and PSP. This tier will also offer time-limited game trials.

Unlike Xbox Game Pass, however, PlayStation Plus will not initially offer first-party titles on the new service the day they launch.

For more, check out our look at why Sony (probably) won’t emulate the PS3 and how this new service compares to Xbox Game Pass and Nintendo Switch Online.

We’ve also got an up-to-date list of all games included with PS Now on IGN Playlist. You can sort them by rating to figure out what to play next or see how long it takes to beat them all.
