8BitDo Arcade Stick For Xbox And PC Gets Massive Discount Ahead Of Prime Day

Ahead of Prime Day Round 2, Amazon-owned retailer Woot has an incredible deal on the recently released 8BitDo Arcade Stick for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. Normally $120, the white model is on sale for only $80. This is by far the best price yet (previous low was $108), so we’d expect this offer to sell out. While you’re picking up the 8BitDo Arcade Stick, you should also check out the big discount on 8BitDo’s brand-new Neo Geo wireless controller for PC, Android, and the Neo Geo Mini.

On the faceplate you’ll find large, arcade-style buttons that make it easy to input complex combos, along with a premium joystick that’ll stand up to even the most intense matches. At the top left corner of the unit is a slew of other buttons, including a Share button and Home button–making it easy to capture footage of your latest match or quickly navigate menus.

Zelda: Skyward Sword HD Is Down To $30 Right Now

GameStop has launched its latest Pro Week sale, a promotion that is going up against Prime Day Round 2. Pro Week includes some truly astounding game deals, especially for Nintendo Switch. Many of the best deals are already selling out, but you can still grab a brand-new copy of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD for just $30.

After you add Skyward Sword HD to your cart, make sure to check out GameStop’s other game deals:

Tons of updates were made to bring Skyward Sword to a new generation of players. For one, the graphics are now in HD, which makes the aerial islands and dungeons look more vibrant and detailed. You can play it with motion controls or with a modified button and stick layout. The non-motion controls take a bit to get used to, but overall they are pretty good.

The tutorial section has also been cleaned up, letting you get to the meat of the game without a boring slog through dozens of menus and slow-paced introductory missions. Autosaving, skippable cutscenes, and reworked camera controls round out the most important updates.

Aside from those drastic changes, the core experience is still intact. You’ll play as Link as he treks across a variety of floating islands and the land beneath the clouds in search of Zelda. The usual assortment of puzzle solving, dungeon diving, and enemy slaying are here in spades, and Zelda fanatics will probably find much to love about its story–according to Zelda lore, Skyward Sword is the very first game in the esoteric timeline.

Our Skyward Sword HD review awarded it a 7/10, thanks to clever puzzles, engaging boss fights, and well-designed dungeons.

Grab Sonic Frontiers For 50% Off For A Limited Time

Sonic Frontiers is on sale for as low as $30 at GameStop and Amazon. GameStop’s deal is included in the retailer’s Pro Week sale, while Amazon, as the online juggernaut is known to do, is matching the offer ahead of Prime Day Round 2. The $30 price applies to the PS5, PS4, and Xbox versions of the 3D adventure at GameStop, but Amazon only has it for PS5 and PS4.

A massive collection of “open-zone” gameplay that feels like a mix between Death Stranding and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Sonic Frontiers gives you all the space you need to go fast, strike hard, and collect tons of rings along the way.

While the big sandboxes are the main event of this game, there’s also a delightful number of retro-inspired levels that riff fantastically on Sonic’s Sega Genesis glory days, putting a new spin on classic stages.

“Running around at the speed of sound might be a mantra of the fleet-footed hedgehog, but Sonic Frontiers is at its best when you’re given time to simply explore,” Richard Wakeling wrote in GameSpot’s Sonic Frontiers review. “The music is calming and also solemn at times–even if it knows when to burst into life with a punk rock energy–and there’s even a fishing minigame that lets you earn rewards while slowing down the pace a step further. It’s easy to fall into a zen-like flow as you traverse each island, rattling off objectives as you happen upon them.”

Assassin’s Creed Mirage Interactive Map and Collectible Locations

Despite offering a more condensed experience, Assassin’s Creed Mirage’s vast and vibrant city of Baghdad is teeming with things to find and explore. Quests and Contracts, Gear Chests, Enigmas, Historical Sites, and even Mysterious Shards are just some of the many things scattered across the city to uncover.

That said, not all of these activities and collectibles are marked on your world map, which makes tracking them down much more difficult. Thankfully, IGN’s Assassin’s Creed Mirage Interactive Map makes things easier, as our map has all essential map points plotted to help guide you through your journey across Baghdad.

Here are some of the most important map markers that you can filter by to help guide you throughout your adventure across Baghdad:

Gear Chests

Select the “Gear Chests” map marker to make all Gear Chests visible or hidden.

Gear Chests reward unique Outfits and Weapons, such as Swords and Daggers, as well as Upgrade Schematics. With over 30 Gear Chests scattered all across Baghdad, tracking them down can be pretty tricky, as many are hidden deep within restricted areas that are heavily guarded by some of Mirage’s most challenging foes.

With stealth being more crucial than ever due to the increased combat difficulty, our comprehensive Gear Chest guides showcase the most optimal stealth route to reach the chest undetected.

It’s also important to note that Gear Chests work uniquely; no matter which chest you find in a particular area, the first will always reward you with the gear piece, while the other two will provide their Upgrade Schematics.

Enigma Locations and Solutions

Enigmas are cryptic notes and drawings scattered across Baghdad that lead to hidden treasures. Solving all 12 Enigmas won’t be easy, but you’ll be rewarded with unique Outfit Dyes and Talismans for your efforts.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage: All Enigma Clues and Hints

Mysterious Shards

There are 10 Mysterious Shards to collect.

Tied to Nehal’s Investigation mission, The Calling, you’ll need to recover 10 Mysterious Shards carried by mysterious figures known as the Tha’abeen, who are usually accompanied by upwards of two guards. Collecting all Mysterious Shards will unlock three powerful gear chests in The Hidden Place: the Samsaama Dagger, the Shamshir-e Zomorrodnegar Sword, and the Milad’s Outfit.

Follow Tha’abeen patrol routes with our custom maps.

Not only does our interactive map display all Mysterious Shard locations, but we’ve also created custom maps with all Tha’abeen patrol routes and tips on the best places to assassinate them.

The Best Word Puzzle Games to Play in 2023

From Scrabble to Wordle, word puzzle games have been a favorite amongst gamers around the world forever for their mind training capabilities and the sense of pure elation when you nail your lexicon mastery. Whether you simply love a good brain teaser, or enjoy adding new words to your vocabulary, these are some of the best word puzzle games we could find in 2023!

All 10 of the games on this list are available on your mobile device or via a web browser, you should be able to play them on the go or at home.

Wordle

It goes without saying that the most viral word game of them all debuts this list: Wordle. With a new word for you to guess each and every day, you’ll always be exposed to a new challenge whenever you play and you can then share your results (successful or otherwise) on your social media. Use logic and deduction and guess optimal words to make the most of your limited guesses, or throw letters at the wall and hope that something sticks!

This simple game popularized a whole string of games like Wordle that you can play across the web, including the more challenging, Quordle.

Wordscapes

Arguably one of the most prolific puzzle game apps, Wordscapes has you solving countless levels of crossword puzzles. Make as many combinations of a jumble of letters as you can, earning additional in-game currency for each additional word you find that’s not included within the crossword itself. With peaceful music and background imagery, this is a lovely game to relax with after a stressful day.

4 Pics 1 Word

For those that need a little more visual assistance, this game provides you with 4 image tiles, all of which act as different clues to denote a certain word. Guess the word based on the images and you’ll proceed to the next level. This is an excellent game to play and discuss with friends or family, as they might pick up on the visual cues that you can’t quite deduce. 4 Pics 1 Word is an excellent cross-over between words and pictures to get your brain moving.

Baba Is You

A far less conventional “word game”, but still one that hinges on the use of vocabulary to dictate how things within the game interact. Play as a cute sprite moving around the level, pushing individual words around to change the ruleset of the game, allowing you to reach the goal. Baba is You, but what if Baba became Win, or Key? Find out when you play this puzzler.

Contexto

A wholly unique browser-based word game, here you’ll be guessing a new word every day similar to Wordle, but instead of correct letters you’ll receive contextual information from an algorithm about how close/similar your word is to the secret word. With the secret word being #1, the number you’ll get after each of your unlimited guesses will tell you if you’re getting warmer or colder. Have fun with Contexto and don’t tear your hair out!

Words With Friends

This legendary word game has you competing against friends and strangers alike in a word battle, placing down words on the board whilst collecting points for each letter you place. Get a higher score than your opponent to come out on top, and rise the ranks of the leaderboard. Don’t panic though, you can still play solo Words With Friends if competition isn’t your style.

Scrabble GO

Scrabble is one of the best classic board games ever made and now the OG word game is available on the go. Scrabble Go and lets you play games against your social media friends and family with the unique and classic Scrabble aesthetic. Unlock chests in-game to unlock custom tiles and style your gameplay to your personal tastes, and show them off to your opponents!

Alphabear

Alphabear is a Scrabble-like experience with a twist. Using tiles unlocks other tiles adjacent to them, but if you don’t use tiles for multiple turns they will ultimately transform into stone blocks that can no longer be used. Don’t let the cute bear aesthetic fool you, this is a devious puzzler that you’ll need to plan future moves for to give you the best chances of success.

SpellTower

SpellTower is a fusion of Tetris and Boggle, where you’ll need to make words out of adjacent letter tiles to help clear the screen, with new letters frequently dropping in from above. Enjoy the idea of a word game under time pressure? Then SpellTower might just be the experience for you!

Typeshift

Typeshift, like other titles on this list, gives you a rotating padlock-style combination of letters that you can twist and reshuffle to try and deduce what the word of the day is. Whilst it is similar in fashion to various other word puzzle games, the thematic flavor of the padlock will play into the hearts of sleuths and escape room aficionados the world over!

10 Games Like Minecraft Worth Playing in 2023

Minecraft is a worldwide phenomenon that most gamers around the world have tried at least once, but what if it didn’t quite click with you? Or what if you can’t get enough Minecraft and are looking for something in a similar vein? Never fear, as we’ve collated some of the best games similar to Minecraft that you can play right now!

All 10 of these games like Minecraft have some sort of element that relates directly to Minecraft gameplay. Whether you’re looking to build worlds and survive or just enjoy a relaxing crafting experience, there’s something here for everyone.

Roblox

Roblox is an incredibly popular game platform and game creation system, and whilst it doesn’t have the standard crafting and survival experience of Minecraft at a baseline, you have the ability to create your own game experiences or play those that others have created. If you love the multiplayer component to Minecraft – playing special game modes and minigames with friends and strangers alike – then you can’t go far wrong with Roblox!

Slime Rancher 1 and 2

If you like the farming and cultivating aspect of Minecraft, and prefer to play on Peaceful where there is little (if any) dangers, then Slime Rancher 1 (and/or Slime Rancher 2) might just be the game for you. This RPG has you building a farm centered around collecting and breeding different types of adorable slimy blobs. With a flowing in-game economy and a puzzle-like element to the possible slime combinations, you can easily lose hours to this adorable indie title.

Satisfactory

Satisfactory scratches the itch of those within Minecraft that love to harvest resources above and below ground, and enjoy creating large warehouses and factories to store and process those materials. Though more sophisticated with its systems than anything in Minecraft (and therefore not the best choice for those that like to keep things simple), building up an automated resource farm hits just as good in Satisfactory as automated farming does in Minecraft.

Terraria

One of the true OG’s when it comes to Minecraft comparisons, Terraria is identical in many ways to its blocky brethren, though Terraria is a 2D side-scroller. Each world you spawn into houses innumerable possibilities, and you can dig down to hell, or build a base to the skies. With bosses to defeat, NPCs to recruit, and special items and biomes to discover, you’ll be aching to explore just those few blocks more!

Stardew Valley

For those looking for a more tailored life-sim experience with crafting and mining as core tenets, Stardew Valley places you as a new owner of a rundown home in a quaint country village. Establish relationships with the other residents of the town, engage in various activities, and rebuild your home alone or with friends.

Not only is this one of the best Nintend Switch games, it is also a great mobile title that is consistently one of the most popular iPhone games.

Don’t Starve

If the spooky horror elements of Minecraft’s Survival mode are one of the main draws, then Don’t Starve is an easy recommendation. As the name suggests, the most important element is finding food and staving off starvation. But you’ll also want to build a shelter (however crude), and construct a fire to keep warm and sane in the dark of night. Death is permanent so the stakes are high, but so are the rewards!

There’s also a multiplayer expansion called Don’t Starve Together where you can play with friends.

Starbound

Similar in style to Terraria, this 2D title has you exploring multiple alien planets with your starship as a hub, so any structures act less as homes and more as temporary outposts to keep you alive during your expeditions. Your equipment will determine the class of character that you play, so Starbound provides a little more structure amongst its openness in comparison to its counterparts.

No Man’s Sky

Speaking of sci-fi, No Man’s Sky had a rocky start but since its launch in 2018 the developers have continually added huge expansions with free content to make it a sandbox unlike any other. Survive and scrape together resources to get from one planet to another, or sit back and relax in a Creative-esque mode with no limitations – the choice is yours! This title also doubles as a game like Starfield if you’re looking for a bit of that as well.

Dragon Quest Builders 2

This spinoff from the legendary Dragon Quest franchise has introduced up to four player co-op within this sandbox world. Hack and slash, build fortresses, and engage in various management sim activities, all wrapped up in a gorgeous and adorable art style. Dragon Quest Builders 2 is a building RPG that is absolutely worth your time.

Lego Worlds

Unlike many other LEGO games in recent years, LEGO Worlds is a full sandbox completely made out of LEGO bricks. Collect various items and decorations scattered across the procedurally-generated map and use them to make a space your own. Modify the landscape with terraforming tools, or construct your own builds and designs with the “brick by brick editor”.

Every James Bond Actor to Play the Role

If someone asks you what your favorite spy movie is, it’s nearly impossible to keep James Bond from coming to mind. With gadgets, gizmos, guns, girls, and goons, James Bond is the gallant good guy who introduced the global audience to the thrill of on-screen espionage. Though the world has had time to reflect on the shortcomings of this flawed character and his over-the-top machismo, Bond remains one of the most exemplary and immortal characters to ever exist in modern media. Though James Bond has been present in film (and literature) for 70+ years, there seems to be no end in sight as new actors for new iterations are considered for the role every decade or so.

How many James Bond Actors are There?

The most iconic movie spy of all time, James Bond has been portrayed by multiple actors since his film debut in 1962. There are a total of 7 actors who have played the role of our beloved spy: Sean Connery, David Niven, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, and Daniel Craig. All have brought their own unique twist to the character and all are worthy of mention in this article.

1. Sean Connery – 1962 – 1967, 1971, 1983

Films: Dr No, From Russia With Love, Goldfinger, Thunderball, You Only Live Twice, Diamonds are Forever, Never Say Never Again (Non-EON production)

Best known for his role as James Bond (despite having almost 100 acting credits on IMDB), Connery is undoubtedly the best and most favored to have ever portrayed the slick, sexy spy. Though Connery very much earned the title, being the first to step into these metaphorically gigantic shoes must have been more like tailor-made dress shoes for him. Starring in what are, to this day, a few of the best Bond movies of all time (Goldfinger, Dr. No), the story of his success after these films is no mystery to unravel.

2. David Niven – 1967

Films: Casino Royale (Non-EON production)

A truly one-of-a-kind portrayal comes from the comedic prowess of David Niven: an unfortunately, largely forgotten role from a top-line British actor. As the only spoof movie on this list, Niven stands out in uniqueness but falls short due to the absolutely polarizing tone of this one-off film. While this film garnered a cult following over the years despite its critical reception, fans of Bond are quick to forget it amongst the crowd.

3. George Lazenby – 1969

Films: On Her Majesty’s Secret Service

The only actor to portray Bond only once – in a serious role, that is – is George Lazenby: an unjustly hated replacement for Sean Connery at the time. While his acting was indeed in the lower rankings of the 7 iterations, the immediate hatred he received even before the film’s release ensured his fate as a one-and-done James Bond. Over 50 years after its release, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service has been hailed as more of a gem to audiences than had been originally perceived. Some even say that, at its core, it is one of the best Bond films but give little credit to poor George.

4. Roger Moore – 1973 – 1985

Films: Live and Let Die, The Man with the Golden Gun, The Spy Who Loved Me, Moonraker, For Your Eyes Only, Octopussy, A View to a Kill

Holding the record for most Bond films starred in, Roger Moore steps in for an impressive 12-year, 7-film streak as James Bond. Though the quality of the films he starred in greatly varies, Moore became a pill much easier for audiences and fans to swallow. Bringing more of a cheeky, goofy quality to the character, the average Roger Moore Bond film is noticeably more campy than the Sean Connery predecessors but ultimately checks all the boxes that a Bond film should.

5. Timothy Dalton – 1987 – 1989

Films: The Living Daylights, License to Kill

One of the more arguably underrated actors to portray Bond is Timothy Dalton: Mr. Eyebrows himself. While he ultimately undersold audiences resulting in his measly two-film streak, Dalton brought a quality of darkness to the character that would change the tone of Bond films forever. As usual, the focus is always on the actor portraying the character rather than the film itself, which is why these two arguably underrated Bond films have been largely overlooked – probably also since License to Kill has been quite a popular film title since.

6. Pierce Brosnan – 1995 – 2002

Films: GoldenEye, Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough, Die Another Day

Commonly referred to as the second best (for some, the best) actor to play Bond, Pierce Brosnan with his sharp looks and undeniable charm was almost immediately accepted by viewers and critics alike. Helped along by the nearly-perfected Bond film formula, Pierce combined all the greatest things about past iterations and made it his own. Though the films are a bit over-the-top at times, the representation of all Bond film elements can be seen through a whole new lens that makes them truly unique.

7. Daniel Craig – 2006 – 2021

Films: Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall, Spectre, No Time to Die

Another actor to be severely criticized even before his first Bond film release, Daniel Craig has since carved out his very own, very special streak of Bond films that are now seen as a great re-imagining of what Bond films can be. As the first series of Bond movies to follow a clear chronological order and continuation of events, Craig was given the rare chance to develop this character into a dark, embittered, lonely narrative with an earth-shattering conclusion. These films also broke the fourth wall a bit by cementing the concept into the canon that 007 is just a number: when he is gone, another comes to take his place as 007.

How to Watch the James Bond Movies in Order

If you’re looking for a more detailed list of how to watch all of the movies by actor or release date, look no further than our guide to the James Bond movies in order. While most of the Bond films do not follow a continued narrative throughout the timeline, it’s still very useful to have a full list of all the Bond films, their release dates, and who is starring in each one.

Kingdom Hearts 4: Everything We Know So Far

It’s been a year and a half since Square Enix and Disney announced Kingdom Hearts 4 at the Kingdom Hearts 20th Anniversary event in Japan, and the well of updates for the game has been empty ever since. Meanwhile, Kingdom Hearts 3 is riding on the title of best-selling game in the series with 6.7 million units sold as of September 2021 — surpassing the sales of even the very first game.

Anticipation for Kingdom Hearts 4 is running high, so we’ve compiled a comprehensive overview of everything we know about the game so far. This page will be updated as we get more information.

Jump to:

Kingdom Hearts 4 – Official Announcement Images

Kingdom Hearts 4 Potential Release Window

A release window for Kingdom Hearts 4 has not been announced. The game is still in early development, so it’s too soon to tell when it will be released. If the development cycle for Kingdom Hearts 3 is anything to go by, Kingdom Hearts 4 would be released in five years, if not sooner.

To justify the timeline of the game’s development, Goofy voice actor Bill Farmer said he had yet to record his lines soon after the trailer dropped. He even said that he didn’t realize that Kingdom Hearts 4 had been announced, let alone entered the development stages.

Kingdom Hearts 4 Platforms

Kingdom Hearts 4 will likely launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with the possibility that it will launch on PC via Steam or Epic Games Store and the successor to the Nintendo Switch, whatever it will be called. Although, it might end up releasing towards the end of the first two consoles’ lifespan. For reference, Kingdom Hearts 3 was released on the PS4 and Xbox One six years into their lifespan, one year before each of their successors were announced.

Kingdom Hearts 4 Announcement Trailer

On April 10, 2022, Kingdom Hearts 4 was announced at the Kingdom Hearts 20th Anniversary showcase, along with the mobile title Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link, which is also in development. The trailer marked the game as the beginning of the Lost Master Arc and showed Sora with a more realistic design than he appeared in the previous games, as he finds himself in a world designed to look like the real world.

Meanwhile, Donald and Goofy set out to find Sora once more, only to be encountered by a mysterious figure.

Kingdom Hearts 4 Potential Setting

Kingdom Hearts 4 takes place after the events of Kingdom Hearts 3 and Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory, as people have been looking for Sora for a year since he disappeared. Going by the trailer, the game is set in the world of Quadratum, a realistic city inspired by Tokyo, featuring a fictionalized Shibuya (which isn’t connected to The World Ends With You despite the game’s cast appearing in Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance) and Minami-Aoyama. According to Tetsuya Nomura, Quadratum is an afterworld for Sora and Strelitzia but is the real world to its inhabitants.

Nomura also said Quadratum will serve as the hub world that players return to after visiting other worlds, while the luxury apartment Sora wakes up in will act as a home base in the earlier parts of the game. There will be Disney worlds in the game, but Nomura didn’t say which ones will make the cut.

Kingdom Hearts 4 Potential Story

As convoluted as the plot for the entire Kingdom Hearts series has been, there’s no telling what the story for Kingdom Hearts 4 will be about. However, the game marks the beginning of the Lost Master Arc, with Kingdom Hearts 3 serving as the end of the Dark Seeker Arc. A swarm of ShadowHeartless turning into a giant terrorizing Quadratum and the two members of Organization XIII that oversee Sora fighting it may set the tone for how the game’s story will play out. You can check out our guide to the Kingdom Hearts timeline for more info.

Kingdom Hearts 4 Gameplay

Sora will retain parkour elements and Keyblade transformations from Kingdom Hearts 3 with a new addition: his Keyblade will turn into a grappling hook that will take him long distances and higher elevations much like air step. Kingdom Hearts 4 will also bring back Reaction Commands, which fans have been demanding Square Enix do since Kingdom Hearts 2.

There will also be a new battle mechanic called Scrap and Build. What Scrap and Build involves is currently unknown, but there will be more details about it at a later date.

Lies of P DLC Seemingly Confirmed

It sounds like the Bloodborne-like, dark Pinocchio fantasy Lies of P might have DLC on the horizon, according to a recent job posting.

X (formerly Twitter) user Okami Games first pointed out the listing earlier today, which is from a post on the company’s official job board. The post itself is in Korean, but IGN has confirmed that the listing is for a quest planner role for a Lies of P DLC, with one of the bullet points on the listing directly stating that the DLC is in development. IGN has reached out to Neowiz for comment on the listing.

While it’s not immediately obvious from the listing what such DLC might entail, there’s one major theory fans have based off the game’s post credits scene. We’re about to discuss it below, so if you’re avoiding spoilers for the ending of Lies of P, don’t read on:

The post-credits scene of Lies of P teases an absolutely wild swing of a new character: Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz. After some dialogue from Paracelsus discussing the events of the game, he concludes with an ominous line: “I will find her, for sure. Another key of ours: Dorothy.”

We then see just the legs of what appears to be a young girl walking along a yellow brick road, red shoes and all, humming innocently. It’s not too big a leap to suggest this scene was teasing the next chapter in the world of Lies of P, but we’re still not sure if Dorothy will be relegated to DLC, or if she’s part of a sequel that the DLC will tee up for us. Could we be on the cusp of seeing a whole universe of public domain fantasy characters team up?

We gave Lies of P an 8/10 at launch, saying that it “might not branch out particularly far from its soulslike inspiration, but like a marionette controlled by a skilled puppet master, it plays the part extremely well in a wonderfully dark fantasy world.” If by chance you bounced off of it at launch due to the Souls-like difficulty, consider jumping back in – patch 1.2 made the game notably easier.
