Jaylen Brown and the Boston Celtics are reportedly now making progress about their massive extension talks, but the wonders of when it will happen remain a question.

Per Adam Himmelsbach of The Boston Globe, talks are now ongoing on both sides and there’s confidence that it’ll get done, but it remains unblurry the exact process that will reach the complete transaction.

“There was continued dialogue between Brown’s camp and the Celtics over the weekend, league sources said, but the sides are still negotiating, and as of Monday morning no deal was imminent,” Himmelsbach wrote. “League sources said that there is confidence and hope that an agreement will be reached soon, but it’s unclear how far they are from the finish line. One league source said that ‘there is work to be done.’”

Brown became eligible for a supermax extension with the C’s upon making it to the last season’s All-NBA Second Team. He can sign for as much as a lucrative five-year, $270MM deal to ultimately cement his commitment to Boston.

He averaged 26.6 points and 6.9 boards during the last regular season, but these numbers significantly dipped during the postseason with just 22.7 points as the Celtics ultimately failed to enter the NBA Finals.
