Dennis Schroder led Germany to a victory against Australia, securing an 85-82 win in a highly anticipated match during the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023. The game took place on Sunday night at the Okinawa Arena.

With this triumph, Germany has maintained a perfect record of two wins in two games, placing them at the top of Group E standings. Their next game against Finland on Tuesday could potentially secure them the top seed in the group.

On the contrary, Australia’s record now stands at one win and one loss (1-1). To maintain their chances of securing the second spot in the group, they will need to defeat the Akatsuki team on Tuesday.

“Real hard loss for us,” said Brian Goorjian, Head Coach of Australia. “I’m proud of the way our guys were competing. We gave ourselves a chance.

“Knew it was going to be a tough game, and I thought it came down to a couple little things, maybe, that were out of our control. We were right there. Onward to the next one.”
