Believe it or not, the New York Giants are in the NFC Playoff hunt

One week ago, no one would have even entertained the notion of the New York Giants in the postseason. But after a big divisional victory over the Washington Commanders on Sunday, they are very much alive in the NFC Playoff picture.

With a record of 2-5, the Giants are ranked 13th in the conference after seven weeks. Philadelphia (6-1), San Francisco (5-1), Detroit (4-2) and Atlanta (4-3) are the four division leaders with Seattle (4-2), Dallas (4-2) and Tampa Bay (3-3) in the three wild card spots.

The are five teams ahead of the Giants after that — the Los Angeles Rams, Washington and New Orleans at 3-4 and Minnesota and Green Bay at 2-4.

The Giants’ defense has played well the past few games and their offensive line should be getting some key starters back beginning this week against the Jets.

Of the 10 games remaining on the Giants’ schedule, only three of them are against teams who currently have winning records – Dallas and Philadelphia, who they play twice.

It’s a long shot, but at least it’s a shot. Again, no one was even thinking about it a week ago.
