Basquet Girona caused a surprise in the opening match of the ACB
In the opening game of the ACB League, Basquet Girona pulled off a surprising 89-85 victory against Alex Mumbru’s team, who are participants in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague.
Playing at La Fonteta, visiting Basquet Girona secured the unexpected win.
Ike Iroegbu emerged as the top scorer for Basquet Girona, contributing 16 points, a tally matched by Gyorgy Goloman, who also grabbed 4 rebounds.
Veteran point guard Quino Colom led the team’s playmaking efforts with 8 points and 7 assists.
However, despite a combined 29 points from the backcourt duo of Chris Jones and Jared Harper, Valencia fell short.
Making his debut for the Spanish side, Brandon Davies chipped in with 13 points and 4 rebounds, while Stefan Jovic remained scoreless after playing for 11 minutes and 51 seconds on the home court.
