ChatGPT Integrates Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive For Paid Users With Connect Apps Feature

ChatGPT is getting a new Connect Apps feature that will allow users to integrate their Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive with the artificial intelligence (AI) platform. This feature will enable users to eliminate the hassle of downloading documents to their devices and then manually uploading them to the AI platform. However, this feature is only available for the paid users of the chatbot, which includes the ChatGPT Plus, Teams, and Enterprise users. Notably, the AI firm has also begun gradually rolling out GPT-4o to users globally.

The feature was announced by OpenAI via a blog post, where it also introduced a couple more features. All of these features are part of the company’s Spring Update, which also unveiled the GPT-4o AI model with emotive voice and computer vision capabilities. Now, paid users of ChatGPT will get the option to directly upload Google Sheets, Docs, Slides, and Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint files to ChatGPT with the new Connect Apps feature.

Connect Apps option will let users integrate their primary cloud storage service between Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive (both enterprise and personal account) with the platform. While the company has not specified, this feature should be available on both the website and the mobile apps. To find the feature, users will have to tap on the paper clip icon located on the left edge of the text field. Tapping on the menu option will open a larger box which will show Google and Microsoft’s cloud storage that can be connected.

Once connected, users can directly upload the files and the AI chatbot will process them. Apart from this, OpenAI is also introducing interactive tables and charts for ChatGPT. Now, when the platform generates a table or chart, users can interact with it and make edits. While they won’t be able to make manual edits at this stage, they can write additional prompts to regroup the tables or to change the colours of a pie chart, and the AI will do it.

After the final chart or table has been prepared, users will also be able to download them. OpenAI says the interactive feature supports several chart types, and in case the user-specified type is unavailable, the chatbot will generate a static chart.

Slovakia Prime Minister Undergoes Further Surgery After Assassination Attempt

Prime Minister Robert Fico of Slovakia underwent an additional surgery, officials said on Friday, as questions continued to swirl about the assassination attempt that put him in the hospital.

The authorities have kept details to a minimum about the attack, about the assailant and about who is leading the country while the prime minister is hospitalized, even as shock over the shooting has begun to give way to trepidation over what comes next for the deeply polarized country.

On Friday afternoon, Slovakia’s deputy prime minister, Robert Kalinak, said that the government was carrying on, telling a news conference that “all our work and tasks are being done.” He also offered an update on Mr. Fico, who he said had undergone a nearly two-hour surgery but was conscious.

“I can see progress,” he told reporters outside the hospital where Mr. Fico is being treated, adding, “I am in a much better mood now.”

Mr. Fico remains in serious but stable condition, according to the hospital director, Miriam Lapunikova. She said it was not yet known whether the prime minister would require additional procedures.

The brief afternoon update — the first from officials in nearly 24 hours — was unlikely to put to rest the many lingering questions in the aftermath of the attack.

The authorities still have not named the suspect — whom Slovakia’s interior minister described as a “lone wolf” radicalized after last month’s presidential election — nor said when he will appear in court to face a charge of attempted premeditated murder. They have called the shooting politically motivated and urged the public and politicians to dial down political rhetoric and hatred as investigations play out.

Local news media reported on Friday that police officers had escorted the suspect to his home in the central Slovak town of Levice, where they searched the premises and seized documents. The police did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Details of Mr. Fico’s injuries and condition also have been closely guarded. Local news outlets reported that doctors will meet on Monday to determine whether the prime minister can be moved to the capital, Bratislava, from the intensive care unit of the hospital in central Slovakia where he underwent surgery. Mr. Kalinak, though, said on Friday that it was too soon to start thinking about that.

“It’s a serious situation,” he told the news conference, expressing “full trust” in the medical team at the hospital, in Banska Bystrica.

He also appeared to dodge a question about who exactly is making high-level decisions for the government. There has been no formal announcement about who is in charge in Mr. Fico’s absence, although local news media have quoted ministers saying that Mr. Kalinak had been leading meetings.

“He is still the prime minister and is acting in the capacity he can,” Mr. Kalinak said of Mr. Fico, noting, however, that the capacity was limited. “I have never seen a stronger man.”

The authorities are mounting two investigations — one into the attacker, the other into the response of security forces at the scene — and urged against rushing to judgment.

Slovakian officials have acknowledged that there is criticism over the actions of officers. Local news outlets have published interviews with security experts analyzing the movements of the gunman and officers’ responses to try to understand how the attacker could have fired at least five times at close range before being subdued.

The inquiries are unfolding against a backdrop of deep political divisions in Slovakia. Mr. Fico has been pushing a strongly contested overhaul of the judiciary to limit the scope of corruption investigations, and he has moved to reshape the national broadcasting system to purge what the government calls liberal bias.

And senior officials in Mr. Fico’s governing Smer party have, in effect, accused liberal journalists and opposition politicians of motivating the assassination attempt through their intense criticism of government actions. Still, Mr. Pellegrini, an ally of Mr. Fico’s who was elected last month, has been among the loudest voices calling for calm.

Amid the dearth of information from the authorities, speculation over the attacker’s identity and motivations has been rife, prompting the Interior Ministry to repeatedly warn against spreading “unverified” details.

The ministry said late Thursday that “a large amount of misinformation” was circulating about the attack. On an existing ministry website dedicated to fighting hoaxes, it labeled a number of unconfirmed news reports — that the suspect was a member of a Slovak paramilitary group, that his wife was a Ukrainian refugee — as “not true” but did not offer up anything verifiable.

As officials warned that tensions risked spilling over, some in Slovakia were expressing concerns about whether Mr. Fico might yet die — but also what might happen should he recover.

“The polarization is very present in the society today and will get worse after this attack,” said Hana Klistincova, 34, a translator interviewed in Bratislava. “I personally am not afraid that the attack could repeat itself — it was the impulsive behavior of one individual — but I am afraid of the impact that this will have on society because of our coalition leaders, who started blaming the opposition and the media right after.”

Veronika Kladivikova, a 27-year-old seamstress from Banska Stiavnica, a small town in central Slovakia, said she was horrified by the attack.

“Even families are divided. I feel it in my own family,” she said, as she watched her child play in a sandbox at the park.

But she said that she was “not afraid right now,” adding, “I hope people will be sensible enough not to panic, or be even more against each other, divided.”

Sara Cincurova contributed reporting from Bratislava.

Arteta and Arsenal praying for a miracle on Premier League final day

Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta is praying for West Ham to cause a massive upset on the final day of the Premier League season.

The Gunners sit two points behind Manchester City going into the weekend and know they must beat Everton if they are to win the title.

Guardiola says Manchester City players must be ‘more focused than ever’ ahead of title decider
Women’s football round-up

Even if they do win, they are relying on their London rivals to shock Pep Guardiola and Co, who are on a 22-game unbeaten run.

Arsenal have been formidable this season, losing just five times and only once in 2024, against Aston Villa.

But it still  may not be enough as City eye a fourth consecutive title.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Arteta said: “It is one of the biggest weeks for many of us. Now is the most important moment.

“We are excited and can’t wait for Sunday. We are very optimistic in terms of outcome.

“The hope is there. We have to do our job because Everton will be tough.

“We have to prove again that we can be better than the opponent. Then we have to wish for West Ham to have a really good day and help us to fulfil our dream.”

Guardiola’s former assistant says he has prepared his players in the best way possible ahead of the weekend.

He says they all have to believe something magical is going to happen, but at the same time focus on what is in their control.

Everton have one of the best defensive records in the league this season and will not be an easy opponent.

Arteta is aware of the threat Sean Dyche’s side poses and is hoping the support of the Emirates crowd will be enough to see them through.

He added: “”The only thing we have discussed is giving ourselves the opportunity to live a beautiful day. The dream is still alive because it is football.

“We have to play like we do every single week and understand that, for the dream to happen, we have to win and then hope that West Ham will help us.

“Whatever happens it will be emotional on the day.

“I have to think we will win the game and then hopefully something beautiful is going to happen.

“There is hope around the building! It will be the last day of the season and we are playing for the Premier League trophy.

“It hasn’t yet been at the Emirates Stadium, which has been open for over 20 years, so yes we will have to be very optimistic. We have to do our duties and then see what happens.”

Google Announces Android 14 for TVs With Picture-in-Picture Mode, New Energy Modes

Google is finally bringing Android 14 for TVs to supported Android and Google TVs with multiple new features and improvements. The new operating system for smart TVs will finally add a picture-in-picture mode that will let users multitask and watch two different videos at the same time. Apart from this, the tech giant is also offering different energy modes to offer users granular control over energy consumption. New accessibility features as well as artificial intelligence (AI)-powered personalised descriptions are also being added.

In a post made on its developers-focused blog, Google said, “We’re bringing Android 14 to TV! The next generation of Android provides improvements in performance, sustainability, accessibility, and multitasking to help you build engaging apps for TVs.” The tech giant also announced a new Compose for TV feature for developers which will allow them to build new apps with Jetpack Compose, the company’s latest Android development toolkit.

The big focus with the new operating system is performance and sustainability. Android 14 for TV will get new energy modes that let users decide the experience they want from their Android TVs. There is a low-energy mode that will reduce the smart TV’s standby power consumption. Then, there’s an increased energy mode that keeps network connectivity active even when the TV is on standby. Finally, there is an optimised energy mode that supports Google Cast over Wi-Fi, but not through ethernet.

Multitasking is also a big focus area for the company as it is finally introducing a picture-in-picture mode. However, this will not be available on all smart TVs. Google says the feature is being reserved for ‘qualified’ Android 14 TV models. It has not announced the list of TVs which will offer this feature, but the rule of thumb says newer and premium smart TVs are likely to get it.

Finally, accessibility features are also being introduced. These include colour correction, improved text options, better navigation for users, and more. All of these features can be toggled on and off using remote shortcuts. Further, Gemini AI has also made its way to Android TV. Google will be adding personalised descriptions for movies and TV shows on the Android TV home screen, powered by Gemini.

Should New York Giants trade for Detroit Lions QB Hendon Hooker?

The New York Giants failed to land their quarterback of choice this spring — North Carolina’s Drake Maye — and will continue on with Daniel Jones as their primary signal caller.

Does that mean the Giants are done looking for their quarterback of the future? For now, maybe. Jones is under contract for three more seasons and the team has brought in Drew Lock on a one-year deal. The long-term view is still very cloudy.

There is another avenue other than the draft and free agency to acquire players. That would be through a trade. The Giants could very well scour the league rosters for a player that they feel can become a franchise quarterback.

One possibility is Hendon Hooker, a 26-year-old who is only in his second season with the Detroit Lions. Hooker was once thought to be a possible take-out for starter Jared Goff but that became very unlikely when the Lions inked Goff to a four-year, $212 million deal last week.

Justin Melo of The Draft Network identified the Giants as one of the three teams (the Los Angeles Rams and Tampa Bay Buccaneers being the others) who could/should make a play for Hooker.

The Giants passed on opportunities to draft J.J. McCarthy, Bo Nix, or Michael Penix Jr. in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft despite facing questions over Daniel Jones’ future. Jones’ 2023 season failed to meet expectations after he signed a four-year, $160 million extension last offseason.

Jones has no guaranteed money remaining on his contract following the conclusion of this season, but an injury guarantee would be triggered for 2025 if Jones gets hurt and can’t pass a physical. We’ve seen similar situations lead to benchings around the league (Russell Wilson in Denver, Derek Carr in Vegas). It’s precisely why the Giants added Drew Lock earlier this offseason. Hooker could give the Giants an alternative option with a higher ceiling.

Now comes the question of how much the Lions would ask in return for the former Tennessee star. We know the Giants had “genuine interest” in Hooker in last year’s draft but were aced out by the Lions in the third round.

They can rekindle that interest this summer as teams struggle to get under the salary cap.

Ronaldo tops Forbes’ list of highest-paid athletes again, Rahm second | Football News

Former Manchester United and Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo is named highest-paid athlete for a fourth time.

Cristiano Ronaldo topped Forbes’ list of highest-paid athletes for the fourth time in his career while Spanish golfer Jon Rahm moved up to second following his sensational switch to Saudi-backed LIV Golf.

Ronaldo became the world’s highest-paid athlete after his move to Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr and Forbes said the 39-year-old footballer’s estimated total earnings were in the region of $260m, an all-time high for a football player.

His on-field earnings amounted to $200m while his off-field earnings were $60m, thanks to sponsorship deals where brands make use of his 629 million Instagram followers.

Twice major winner Rahm joined LIV Golf in December in a big-money move that sent shockwaves through the sport after media reports said the current world number five would be paid at least $300m.

Apart from that guarantee, Rahm has earned $218m and joins Ronaldo as the only two athletes to earn over $200m.

Third on the list is record eight-times Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi, who made a lucrative switch to Major League Soccer side Inter Miami, helping the Argentine World Cup winner earn $135m.

The 36-year-old has earned $65m in on-field earnings but $70m off it thanks to deals with major sponsors such as Adidas and Apple.

Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James is fourth at $128.2m and although the 39-year-old, the first NBA player to score 40,000 career points, is nearing the end of his career, the American is set to have one last crack at the Olympics.

Fellow NBA star Giannis Antetokounmpo ($111m) of the Milwaukee Bucks rounds out the top five while France soccer captain Kylian Mbappe has dropped down to sixth ($110m).

Mbappe announced he would be leaving Paris Saint-Germain after seven years in the French capital where he became the club’s all-time leading scorer and the 25-year-old is expected to join Spanish giants Real Madrid in the close season.

Former PSG star Neymar, who also moved to the Saudi Pro League to join Al-Hilal, is seventh ($108m) despite sitting out the majority of the season with a torn ACL.

French striker Karim Benzema, who also moved to Saudi Arabia, is eighth ($106m) on the list followed by Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry ($102m).

Lamar Jackson is the only NFL player on the list in 10th place ($100.5m) thanks to the signing bonus that was negotiated in his new Baltimore Ravens contract last year.

Céline Dion’s Twin Teenage Sons Look So Grown Up in New Photo

A new day has come for Céline Dion and her family.

In fact, it looks like her youngest sons have grown up. When Céline attended a recent Rolling Stones concert, she was joined by her three kids—son René-Charles, 23, and twins Nelson and Eddy, 13, whom she shared with late husband René Angélil—and the picture she shared is proof of how quickly the time flies.

In the snapshot, Céline posed with her three boys alongside Mick Jagger. The whole group was all smiles, and the “A New Day Has Come” singer stunned in a red leather dress for the occasion.

“This past Saturday, I got a chance to catch the @therollingstones in concert on their #hackneydiamonds tour at @allegiantstadium in Vegas,” she captioned her May 16 post. “What an incredible show! A very special thanks to @mickjagger for warmly welcoming my family. You got us rocking! – Céline xx.”

And fans were equally excited to see Céline out and about—almost a year and a half after sharing her diagnosis with Stiff-Person Syndrome—as well as her sons.

“So beautiful.. your boys are all grown up,” commented one user, while another added, “Are those her twins? They’re so grown up now!”

Where do Giants rank in air travel miles for the 2024 NFL season?

The New York Giants do not normally do a lot of traveling during the NFL season. In fact, they are among one of the least-traveled teams in the league in recent years.

In 2024, they are scheduled to travel 19,295 air miles in their eight road games — an average round trip of 2411.87 miles — covering 20 time zones. That ranks them 16th in the league in terms of total travel.

The Giants’ longest road trip will naturally be their Week 10 jaunt to Munich, Germany to face the Carolina Panthers. They will cover 8,068 miles and 12 time zones during that trip.

Four of the Giants’ eight road games — to Philadelphia, Washington, Pittsburgh, and Cleveland — cover a total of just 1,991 miles.

The other three road games on the Giants’ schedule this year are: Atlanta (1,495 miles), Dallas (2,770), and Seattle (4,971).
