Constance Wu Returns to Instagram After Being “Off the Grid” for Years

Fresh off an Instagram hiatus.

After stepping away from the spotlight for several years to focus on her mental health, Constance Wu got back on the ‘gram to reflect on what she called a “wonderful experience and an incredible film.”

“While I was off the grid recovering, I took a little break from my acting career. But during that time I did do a couple select small projects with people I love and trusted,” she began her Instagram message on July 25. “I Was a Simple Man was one of those projects.”

Constance, 40, shared that the film—which is now available for streaming on Criterion—premiered at the Sundance Film Festival last year, but she didn’t promote it to her fans as she “wasn’t on social media back when it came out.”

“But now that I’m back on here for a bit, wanted to share this beautiful film by my dear friend @makotoyogi who I love and admire very much,” she continued, tagging director Christoper Makoto Yogi. “Loved the cast and crew and heart of this experience.”

Candace Cameron Bure Apologizes After JoJo Siwa Calls Her Rude

According to Candace, JoJo said, “I get it now as an adult when you’re on the red carpet and everything’s happening and you’re being pulled in different directions, but, at the time, I was 11.”

Now that they’ve talked it out, Candace said that things are “all good on the JoJo front,” while also sharing “the lesson” she has taken away.

“I think that the lesson we can learn is to be mindful of no matter how many followers you have, even a 10 second trending TikTok video can do damage,” she said. “Because our words matter and our actions matter and whether you have 50 million followers or 500 followers or five followers, we all influence the people around us.”

Adam Warlock Explained: Who Is Will Poulter’s MCU Guardians of the Galaxy 3 Character?

Marvel Studios usually keeps things pretty close to the vest when it comes to new characters making their Marvel Cinematic Universe debut, but not when it comes to Adam Warlock. We’ve known ever since the post-credits scene of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 that this cosmic messiah’s reign is close at hand, and now we known who will play the hero in Guardians 3.

But who is Adam Warlock, and why is he such an important addition to the MCU? Read on to find out everything you need to know about this powerful but unstable Marvel hero. Here are the topics we cover:

  • Who Is Adam Warlock?
  • Adam Warlock’s Origin
  • Adam Warlock’s Powers and Abilities
  • Is Adam Warlock a Villain?
  • Adam Warlock in TV and Games

Marvel Cinematic Universe: Every Upcoming Movie and TV Show

Who Is Adam Warlock?

Adam Warlock is one of the major players in Marvel’s cosmic landscape. His innate, energy-based powers already make him a force to be reckoned with. But when he wields the awesome might of the Soul Gem, Warlock becomes one of the most powerful warriors in the universe. Warlock has been a frequent ally of teams like the Fantastic Four and the Guardians of the Galaxy, often fighting to protect the universe from villains who seek to rule it.

However, Warlock is both one of the greatest threats to the Marvel Universe and one its most valiant defenders. That’s because he has a darker side known as Magus. While Warlock has done his best to suppress or destroy this darker side, the universe is never quite safe from this tyrannical villain as long as Warlock himself survives.

Who Will Play Adam Warlock in the MCU?

Will Poulter will play Adam Warlock in Guardians Vol. 3. The British actor is known for his turn as Eustace Scrubb in The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, The Maze Runner and Maze Runner: The Death Cure, The Revenant, Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, and the horror movie Midsommar, where things did not go very well for his character at all.

Warlock is both one of the greatest threats to the Marvel Universe and one its most valiant defenders.

Adam Warlock’s Origin

Like a great many cosmic Marvel characters, Adam Warlock was originally created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in the pages of Fantastic Four (specifically in issues #66-67 in 1967). At the time, though, he was simply known as “Him,” and it wasn’t until later when writers like Roy Thomas and Jim Starlin got their hands on the character that Warlock’s back story and ongoing role in the Marvel U. was truly fleshed out. In these early stories, Warlock was treated as a messianic savior, with Thomas drawing heavy inspiration from the musical Jesus Christ Superstar.

Starlin in particular played a major role in shaping the character. It was he who linked the character to the Soul Gem and established the ongoing rivalry between Warlock and the fanatical Church of Universal Truth, led by Warlock’s insane future self, Magus. Starlin even killed off the character when Warlock traveled forward in time and drained his own soul to prevent himself from ever becoming Magus. Warlock eventually returned, and several different incarnations of Magus have followed.

The Infinity Gauntlet storyline served as what is arguably Warlock’s most important act in the Marvel Universe, as he helped Earth’s heroes overthrow the all-powerful Thanos and took possession of the Infinity Gauntlet for himself. That paved the way for a new series called Infinity Watch, where Warlock and his allies (Pip the Troll, Gamora, Drax the Destroyer, Moondragon and Thanos himself) safeguarded the Infinity Gems to prevent another villain from reassembling the Gauntlet.

Warlock again rose to the forefront of the Marvel Universe during 2007’s Annihilation: Conquest crossover. He returned to help shepherd a new incarnation of the Guardians of the Galaxy (the one that would go on to inspire the movies) and prevent the already fragile fabric of the Marvel Universe from being further damaged. Most recently, Warlock has been featured in several Thanos-centric graphic novels written and drawn by Starlin.

Adam Warlock’s Powers and Abilities

Warlock was genetically engineered by a group of scientists called the Enclave, who desired to create a genetically perfect, synthetic human. Warlock has your standard superhero abilities like strength, speed, durability and flight, as well as the ability to absorb and channel cosmic energy via “Quantum magic.” Warlock also has the ability to retreat into a regenerative cocoon and heal his body from mortal wounds.

Much of his power, however, is derived from the Soul Gem. One of the six gems that make up the Infinity Gauntlet, the Soul Gem allows Warlock to absorb the souls of other beings. It’s this Soul Gem that caused a future incarnation of Warlock to become insane and transform into Magus.

Warlock also briefly wielded all six Infinity Gems in the aftermath of 1991’s Infinity Gauntlet storyline, making him one of the most powerful beings in existence.

Is Adam Warlock a Villain?

This is a tricky question! Let’s just say he has multitudes in the comics, where he works for the protection and betterment of the universe these days, but also, as noted above, has a second version of himself from the future called Magus who is… yeah, a villain. Like, total bad guy. We’ll see if we get both versions of the character or not in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Adam Warlock in TV and Games

Adam Warlock has made a number of small cameo appearances in various Marvel animated and video game projects. One of his first multimedia appearances came in Marvel Super Heroes: War of the Gems, which loosely adapts the Infinity Gauntlet storyline and features both Warlock and Magus. Warlock has also appeared in animated series like Silver Surfer, The Super Hero Squad Show, Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and the direct-to-DVD animated movie Planet Hulk.

As the Guardians of the Galaxy have become a more prominent fixture in Marvel’s various multimedia projects, so too has Adam Warlock. He recently appeared in the second season of the Guardians of the Galaxy cartoon (voiced in adult form by Eric Bauza and in child form by Tara Strong). He’s also a playable character in the mobile game Avengers Alliance. But by far his biggest role to date came in 2021’s Guardians of the Galaxy game, whose finale adapts some key Adam Warlock stories from the comics.

Adam Warlock as he appears in Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

Expect plenty more Warlock on TV and in Marvel’s games as the character begins to leave his mark on the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Warlock sort of already made his MCU debut in 2013’s Thor: The Dark World, as director James Gunn has said the cocoon seen in The Collector’s trophy room did indeed house Warlock’s body. Warlock was originally planned to appear in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, but Gunn elected to leave him out rather than cram too many characters into one film. That’s why the film only teases his eventual appearance.

Instead, Warlock will make his debut in 2023’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, where he’ll be played by Midsommar and Dopesick star Will Poulter. If the comics are any indication, Adam will likely be the Guardians’ worst nightmare and their most powerful ally rolled into one.

This story originally ran in May of 2017. It was updated with the latest information about Guardians Vol. 3 on July 26, 2022.

Selena Gomez recently rang in her 30th birthday with a celebration to remember—and let’s just say, we can’t get enough of this epic event. As for how she honored her special day, a source exclusively tells E! News that the event was a “formal party” with nearly 50 guests held at a private home.

Mike Pence Urges Conservatives to Look Forward as a Trump Cloud Hovers

Mr. Trump and Mr. Pence had been in somewhat regular contact after leaving office, speaking several times by phone in conversations that avoided discussion of the Capitol riot, according to their advisers. In an interview last year, Mr. Trump said that he had never told Mr. Pence he was sorry for not acting quicker to stop the attack — and that Mr. Pence had never asked for an apology.

But a rivalry has flared up behind the scenes.

On Monday, Mr. Pence announced that his book about his time in the administration, “So Help Me God,” would be published on Nov. 15. The book has been a source of tension with Mr. Trump, who, when he learned in early 2021 that Mr. Pence had a book deal, was still musing about obtaining one of his own.

But in most parts of the publishing industry, Mr. Trump was broadly seen as a risk. The former president seemed frustrated that Mr. Pence had gotten a deal, and within days of learning about it, he attacked the former vice president while speaking to a group of Republican donors at a Republican National Committee event at Mar-a-Lago, seizing on Mr. Pence’s refusal to do what Mr. Trump wanted on Jan. 6, 2021.

The two men’s paths have also differed this year along the midterm campaign trail. They have backed opposing candidates in several primary races, including the Republican governor’s contest in Arizona, which will be decided next week, and the party’s primary for governor in Georgia, where Mr. Pence’s pick, Gov. Brian Kemp, easily defeated his Trump-backed challenger, David Perdue.

Mr. Pence is widely seen as considering a presidential bid in 2024, but he would face stiff challenges.

In a New York Times/Siena College poll of Republican voters this month, just 6 percent said they would vote for Mr. Pence if the 2024 Republican presidential primary were held today, compared with 49 percent for Mr. Trump and 25 percent for Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida.

Bears cornerback takes blatant shot at Matt Nagy era, lauds new culture

Bears cornerback Jaylon Johnson praised the new coaching staff in Chicago by taking a massive shot at the culture problems in the Matt Nagy era.

The Matt Nagy era started out so promisingly in 2018 when the rookie head coach was named Coach of the Year and the Bears went 12-4.

After that successful first season, things fell apart for Nagy so thoroughly that he’s still taking a beating even after being fired after the 2021 season.

The latest shot was unleashed by Bears cornerback Jaylon Johnson.

Bears cornerback takes a blatant shot at Matt Nagy era

“The way they hold us accountable is crazy, compared to what we’re used to,” Johnson said of the new coaching staff as training camp began on Tuesday, per Adam Hoge of CHGO Sports.

Culture problems within the organization have been placed squarely at Nagy’s feet since he was unceremoniously axed in January. Lack of accountability is pretty clearly something that didn’t go over well.

Johnson spent two seasons under Nagy’s regime after being drafted in the second round out of Utah in 2020. While he spent the last two years emerging as a key figure in the secondary, the team looked stuck in neutral, going 8-8 in 2020 and 6-11 in 2021.

He said the new coaching staff has put more of an emphasis on “hard-nosed” football, per Sean Hammond of Bears Insider.

New head coach Matt Eberflus is tasked with turning things around in Chicago while building around Justin Fields. The defense-minded coach may be the right counter to Nagy, who was offense-focused and considered too soft to consistently produce a strong team.

Xbox Series X|S Are the Still the Fastest-Selling Consoles in Xbox History, Almost Two Years In

Last year, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella announced at the company’s full year earnings call that the Xbox Series X and S were the fastest-selling consoles in Xbox history. Now, a year later and nearly two years into the consoles’ life cycles, he’s affirmed this continues to be true.

While this sounds a bit obvious, what Nadella’s really saying here is that sales of the newest Xbox consoles haven’t really slowed down significantly since they launched, at least not compared to past Xbox consoles.

His exact words were that Microsoft has “sold more consoles life-to-date than any previous generation of Xbox.” So almost two years in, none of the other Xboxes had sold as many units as the current generation.

That’s a lot of Xboxes, especially given the many challenges the ongoing chip shortage has presented in getting the dang things on the shelves in the first place.

Nadella also mentioned a few other numbers. He reminded us that Xbox consoles have been the next-gen console market leader for three quarters in a row now (basically, they’ve been outselling PS5 for the last three quarters). And, hardware aside, Xbox’s xCloud seems to be doing all right too — over four million people have streamed Fortnite to date on xCloud, Nadella said, including over one million people who were brand new to the xCloud ecosystem.

That’s all good news for Xbox, though it came alongside the announcement that gaming revenue for the quarter was down 7% year-over-year, content and service revenue was down 6%, while hardware revenue dropped 11%. While none of that sounds sparkling, it also shouldn’t be shocking — last quarter the company was still riding the high of a massive hardware sales surge, and it’s normal to see hardware sales gently decline as time goes on.

Overwatch 2 – Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase 2022

As for content revenue, without a ton of blockbuster releases hanging around, Xbox will probably have to wait for October or later for some big releases to bolster those numbers further.

Xbox is projecting that its current quarter (running from July through September) will see a year-on-year drop in the low-to-mid single digits due to declines in first party content, while console revenue and Game Pass subscriptions are expected to rise.

Cowboys should rush to sign this wide receiver with Julio Jones in Tampa

The Dallas Cowboys watched as Julio Jones signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They should make a run at one of the top wide receivers available in free agency.

Just as players began reporting for training camp this week, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers showed that they are still all-in for another run to the Super Bowl. On Tuesday, July 26, the Buccaneers signed former Atlanta Falcons and Tennessee Titans wide receiver Julio Jones to a one-year contract. That gives Tom Brady a receiving corps of Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and Jones.

Entering camp, Jones was the top wide receiver available, despite his production dropping in an injury-plagued 2021 season. The Dallas Cowboys do have a need at wide receiver after they traded Amari Cooper to the Cleveland Browns and lost Cedrick Wilson Jr. in free agency to the Miami Dolphins.

Fans know that team owner Jerry Jones loves his big-name wide receivers. That is why he should jump at the opportunity to sign Odell Beckham Jr. before any other organization does so.

Cowboys should sign Odell Beckham Jr. after Julio Jones joins Buccaneers

Beckham had quite the year in 2021. He started off the year with the Cleveland Browns, but both parties reached a mutual agreement to terminate his contract. Beckham ultimately joined the stacked Los Angeles Rams offense to make a run at his first Super Bowl title.

At Super Bowl 56, Beckham made a huge impact at the start of the first half, catching the first touchdown pass of the game to give the Rams an early lead. Unfortunately, Beckham tore his ACL later on. The Rams were still able to defeat the Cincinnati Bengals 23-20, giving Beckham his first Super Bowl ring.

In his eight regular-season games with the Rams, Beckham recorded 27 receptions for 305 yards and five touchdowns on 48 targets. Through Los Angeles’ four playoff games, Beckham caught 21-of-26 targets for 288 yards and two touchdowns.

It is not exactly ideal for the Cowboys to sign a player coming off of a torn ACL. Dallas is already dealing with that as Michael Gallup, who re-signed with the team on a lucrative five-year contract this offseason, is recovering from a torn ACL suffered in Week 17 last year. But, the Cowboys have to bolster the depth chart, especially when looking at the division.

The Philadelphia Eagles are primed to be finalists for the NFC East crown this season, as they traded for A.J. Brown to add to their wide receiver corps alongside DeVonta Smith, Quez Watkins, and Zach Pascal. Then, there are the Washington Commanders, who have Terry McLaurin, Curtis Samuel, and Jahan Dotson as their top receivers. The New York Giants, despite the new regime cleaning up the mess that was the Dave Gettleman era, have a pretty potent receiving corps of Kenny Golladay, Kadarius Toney, Sterling Shepard, WanDale Robinson, and Darius Slayton if they are all healthy.

Dallas needs to add some depth at the position behind CeeDee Lamb if they plan on making a run for a playoff spot. Having Beckham on the roster for his potential return could do wonders for the Cowboys.
