Anthony Davis on Lakers’ game plan against Russell Westbrook

Russell Westbrook faced the Lakers for the first time since getting traded by the Purple and Gold in February. He helped the Clippers defeat his former team as he scored 14 points, grabbed 3 rebounds and dished out 4 assists in 21 minutes of play.

The former NBA MVP scored 10 of his points during the first seven minutes of the game. It appeared that Westbrook was extra motivated to play against the Lakers.

According to Anthony Davis, the plan for the Purple and Gold was to allow Russ to shoot, hoping that he would miss those shots.

“I think they got him going,” AD said about Westbrook. “I think he made two threes, a couple pull ups. That’s an energy booster for them.

“I think our game plan was for him to kind of shoot the ball. And he made them. He made the shots. It kind of snowballed down to everybody else who started making shots. Got their crowd into it.”
