Adisa Isaac an intriguing option for pass rush-needy New York Giants

There’s a local New York product competing at this week’s NFL Combine in Indianapolis that could pique the interest of the New York Giants.

Adisa Isaac, a 6-foot-4, 255-pound edge rusher from Penn State by way of Canarsie High School in Brooklyn, could be the compliment the Giants are seeking for Kayvon Thibodeaux.

Issac has righted his career after a debilitating Achilles injury sidelined him in 2021. He has since become a ‘disruptive’ player who nailed his turn at this year’s Senior Bowl.

ESPN’s Matt Miller wrote that Isaac “stole the show” during team practices and was the best defensive lineman on the field.

“His first-step quickness was too much to handle, and his spin move frustrated more than one blocker,” Miller wrote in his ESPN evaluation.

“I think I was able to display my talents against the best,” Isaac said this week at the Combine about his Senior Bowl experience. “I just did what I’ve been doing all year, doing it at a high level, had that first-hand experience with NFL coaches and not just my personal coaches. I was happy I was able to display my talents.”

Isaac was asked what type of player an NFL GM would be getting in him.

“Smart, destructive, coachable, I’m selfless, a team-first guy. I’m going to put the team ahead of myself. You’re going to get my all. I’m going to put my best foot forward and do what I do best,” he said.

Could that happen with one of the two teams in his native city of New York?

“It would be a full circle, surreal moment in a sense. I’m open to it all,” he said.

Isaac met with the Giants this week. They appear to be interested.

The Giants have the sixth overall selection in the upcoming NFL draft followed by two second-rounders (Nos. 39 and 47) and a third-rounder (No. 70). Isaac likely won’t last past then.
