Packers are desperate to get rid of Aaron Rodgers

The Packers are waiting for Aaron Rodgers to make a decision on his future but rumor has it they really don’t want him to say he’ll return to Green Bay.

Aaron Rodgers has a decision to make with technically three options available: 1) Retire. 2) Request a trade. 3) Return to play for the Packers.

Green Bay continues to make it very clear through the rumor mill which of those options they don’t want him to make.

Rich Eisen returned from the NFL Combine with a list of top rumors he heard while in Indianapolis, saying that he heard one thing over and over consistently: “The Packers sure hope Aaron Rodgers doesn’t want to come back.”

“They sure hope that when he comes up with his decision it is ‘I wish to retire’ or ‘I wish to be traded elsewhere.’ They do not want his response to be ‘let’s run it back’,” Eisen said on his Monday show.

Aaron Rodgers coming back to Green Bay would upend the Packers’ plans

Eisen speculated that Green Bay doesn’t want to be the one who officially ended the relationship with Rodgers, a future Hall of Famer and Super Bowl winner.

It also helps that the Packers are in a position to get something back for Rodgers. Derek Carr just signed with the Saints, giving teams interested in trading for Rodgers one less option.

This isn’t the first time reports have suggested the Packers are ready to move on from Rodgers. They have apparently put all their eggs in the Jordan Love basket. If Rodgers can’t see that for himself then maybe he truly lost his vision during his darkness retreat.

At this point, Rodgers deciding to continue his playing career in Green Bay would be the biggest shock of all. He’s clearly not welcome there. It would be a wrench in the Packers’ plans considering Love has a fifth-year option coming up. If he doesn’t play, proving one way or another he can perform at starting level, then making a decision on his future will be that much harder.

Of course, if Rodgers wants to stick it to the Packers, that’s one way to do it.
