Lakers set to offer LeBron James $160M max contract
According to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, the Los Angeles Lakers remain committed to re-signing LeBron James this offseason. They are ready to offer him a maximum three-year, $160 million contract if he opts out.
Alternatively, James could opt into his $51.4 million contract for the 2024-25 season and then sign a late-August extension worth $162 million over three years. This scenario would earn him $2 million more, but he would not be eligible to include a no-trade clause as he could by opting for free agency.
