The Houston Rockets received a favorable outcome in the 2024 NBA Draft Lottery, moving up from the ninth overall pick to the third overall pick. With this high pick, Rockets GM Rafael Stone is reportedly considering trading it to acquire a veteran player.

The Rockets had previously signed several veteran free agents in the 2023 offseason, which contributed to their improvement from 22 wins in 2022-23 to 41 wins in 2023-24.

Despite having a promising young core featuring players like Alperen Sengun, Jalen Green, and others, Houston is prioritizing win-now options over adding another young player to their roster.
