3 teams that should trade for Christian McCaffrey after latest rumors

The Carolina Panthers are reportedly willing to trade running back Christian McCaffrey, but which teams could be a suitable match?

Carolina fired head coach Matt Rhule this week, officially marking the start of their rebuild. Even with a slight upgrade at the quarterback position in Baker Mayfield, Rhule couldn’t turn this team around. Perhaps the former Baylor coach belongs in college, which is surely where his next gig will be.

But what’s next for Carolina? The NFL trade deadline is on Nov. 1. With that in mind, they’ve already signaled to much of the league that they’re open for business.

That means the likes of McCaffrey and Brian Burns are available, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter:

“The Carolina Panthers are listening to other teams about a potential trade for star running back Christian McCaffrey, although a deal might not be easy to complete, league sources tell ESPN…Carolina also appears unwilling to trade defensive stalwarts Derrick Brown and Brian Burns, despite interest that they have generated around the league. One player the Panthers are open to moving, according to sources, is wide receiver Robbie Anderson.”

Where could McCaffrey go? That remains a tough question to answer.

Christian McCaffrey trade rumors: Broncos

Despite Nathaniel Hackett’s poor clock management and Russell Wilson’s sometimes brutal play, the Denver Broncos are 2-3 on the year and not far removed from an AFC Wild Card spot.

John Elway and the Broncos ownership group has far too much invested in this Denver team to miss the playoffs. Adding a player like McCaffrey to the offense could be the fix Hackett and Co. have been waiting for.

Javonte Williams is out for the season, and he was the answer to any run flaws this team had last year. Melvin Gordon has been a massive disappointment ever since he arrived in Denver, and can’t hold onto the football. Thus, the Broncos cannot trust him consistently. Mike Boone is fine, but he’s still Mike Boone.

An added bonus is that McCaffrey grew up in Colorado, and he’s the son of former Denver star Ed McCaffrey.
